COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Devil’s Milk is an American-style Barley Wine. This beer exhibits a wealth of fruit flavors, from pears to plums to raisins. Devil’s Milk is dry hopped (hops added after fermentation) for a strong bite that balances its big malt backbone. Served in a snifter glass because of the high abv, barley wines are perfect as a relaxing “after-dinner” drink or nitecap.

Clear amber whiskey like pour, thin creamy bubbly off white head and very light sticky lacing. ... Aroma of faded citrusy hops, dark fruits, chewy caramel/toasted malts and boozy .... Mouthfeel is thick, oily and slick ... Taste is bitter and of faded citrusy hops, slightly piney/earthy hops, dark fruits, chewy caramel malts and rich toasted malts ... Quite a bit of warming abv ... Finish is malty with a bitter and warming finish ... Well done def aging a couple of these so the booze flavors can tone down a little

Pours from the bottle with a sparkling, clear, almost pinkish medium brown color, but almost no head. The aroma is disappointingly muted, with only a mild grainy sweetness and a light pine character being discernable. The flavor is more forward, with woody hops being balanced against subtly sweet caramel malts. It’s not too boozy or sweet as many barley wines can get, and rather just provides a full balance of flavors. The medium body and light carbonation further help this one from getting too syrupy. Overall, despite being comparatively mellow for a 10% barley wine, the rich flavors one would expect still come through.

Nice dark fruit aroma with some great caramel and malt flavor and a good underlying bitterness. Flavor is a good hoppy bitterness with good raisin and caramel undertones. Does not leave much lingering on the tongue. Overall a solid beer.

My very first Barley Wine, so I do not have a comparison. Nice floral and grassy aroma. Pours medium orange and hazy with a slight head. Initial taste of sweet fruitiness gives way to a slightly bitter finish. Overall a very tasty beer that I would definitely purchase by the case or even keg. At 10.6% abv it packs a little kicks.

Poured from a bottle into a snifter. Pours a dark reddish brown with a small white head. Aroma is close to that of a port or a sherry wine. Tastes of caramel, dark fruit, citrus, vanilla, and candy sugar. Light bodied, light carbonation, almost an oily feel. I love it

Bottle: Poured a murky brown color ale with a small foamy head with minimal retention and not much lacing. Aroma consists of deep caramelized malt with quite a bit of green hoppy notes. Taste is also a mix between some overly sweet caramelized malt with some stalled green hops that don’t really mix that well with the malt backbone. Body is about average with medium-to-low carbonation and light apparent alcohol. There is something off balanced in this beer that I didn’t particularly enjoyed.

Amber colored without much head, aroma of fruity, grain and hops. Balanced taste of hops, citrus and bread. Slightly bitter palate of citrus rind.

Bottle at Christine and Daves, big thanks to DLJ, 29/11/13. Lightly hazed dark amber/chestnut brown with a moderate off white covering. Nose is earthy, dark toffee, dark fruits, sugars, hop presence, bitter tropical notes. Taste comprises caramelised sugars, piney tang, tropical fruit medley, bitter orange, red gragpefruit, sugars, light booze. Full bodied, fine carbonation, sweet closure with lightly warming booze. Respectable Barley Wine - alcohol well integrated.

this one poured a murky brown color with a beige head. Aroma was of caramel, dark fruits and booze. Flavor was similar, lightly hoppy bitterness with lots of caramel sweetness. Typical barleywine.
