Imperial Stout brewed with spices and aged in bourbon barrels. What happen when a 40/60 blend of RETRIBUTION Imperial Stout and REPENT Belgian Pent Ale ages for 6 months inside a charred Kentucky white oak bourbon barrel? The second coming of divinity. This full bodied blended stout balances the penitent aromas of sweet with vengeful notes of dark fruit, vanilla, charred oak, and espresso for a beer so revelatory you’ll . . . Ask forgiveness instead of permission.

Bottle... Mostly clear, dark brown pour with a small, creamy, white head. Decent retention. The nose is a mingling of pouch tobacco, vanilla, alcohol and a pinch of toasted coconut. Full-bodied and velvety with restrained carbonation. The flavor is a fusion of sweet molasses, bourbon and vanilla. Finishes sweet and boozy. Very enjoyable, but with a retail price of $27.99, it’s too spendy for me to ever drink again.

Darkest brown with rub of ruby in the light and stencil of tan head head. Buzzing sheen MDF woodiness but with a decent estuary smoky nose. Buckets of choc, in a spread throughout from the initial taste of light cocoa to dark chewy nibs. Finish is masked dark liquorice, hating alcohol burn. Cuffed sweetness by this, but the finish is earnest vanilla and rich dryness.

Bottle, mule’d by CAGarvie for the "Let’s Do A Chris O" Chris-O-age, vile style I had to decrypt this one - but worth it

Bottle courtesy of Craig at Craigs doing a Chris O tasting, Edinburgh (ta for the beer Craig) Saturday 15th March Pours black with a red glint. A little chilli heat coming from somewhere, everyone kept going on about sexual chocolate, can’t recall whether they were discussing this or another but this was marvellous. Lots of chocolate some vanilla, good but I think that chilli is a bit of harshness from the alcohol. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov16 3.8

22 oz bottle. Dark brown with splotchy tan haze. Nose is bourbon, boozy chocolate, toffee and raisin. Hot with stinging alcohol; the silky body smooths the sharp edges. Taste is super sweet grapes, chocolate, bourbon, wood and cane sugar. Reminds me of an eisbock.
