COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial Stout brewed with spices and aged in bourbon barrels. What happen when a 40/60 blend of RETRIBUTION Imperial Stout and REPENT Belgian Pent Ale ages for 6 months inside a charred Kentucky white oak bourbon barrel? The second coming of divinity. This full bodied blended stout balances the penitent aromas of sweet with vengeful notes of dark fruit, vanilla, charred oak, and espresso for a beer so revelatory you’ll . . . Ask forgiveness instead of permission.

Bottle generously shared by the Tampa Tasting Crew. Pours a dark cola brown with an off-tan head. Nose is booze, some chocolate, oak, molasses, and lots of sweetness. Flavor is similar with roast, wood, booze, and some dark fruit. Light to medium in body and boozy overall.

Serving: 22 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours jet black with a small tan head. The nose is vanilla, bourbon, roasted malt, and some oak. The flavor is well balanced with a good dose of vanilla, dried fruit, spice, cocoa, oak, and bourbon. The alcohol is present, but not overpowering. Full bodied with a lingering mouthfeel. Pretty solid stuff.

Nearly opaque black with a small, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, smoke, dark fruit, honey, caramel, spices, and alcohol. Taste of rye, dried fruits, spices, roast, cocoa, a bit of smoke, and strong alcohol in the finish.

Damico (1914) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 12, 2013
Pours thick, unclear dark brownish black with an off white head that dissipates, but is nice. The aroma brings the vanilla bourbon so nicely with some complementary booze, and a bit of sweet malts. The flavor brings delicious lightly sweetened fountain coke and vanilla whiskey flavors. The body seems just right for a barrel aged stout, the carbonation is there but a bit muted.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2013 So divine that if she left me, she’d left me sad and blue...I didn’t know what to do without my baby, baby, baby, and then I met her best friend and then I said, I said, I said, PUT IT IN MY MOUTH. IN MY MOTHER FUCKIN MOUTH!!! It’s a 5,000 mile old synthetic motor oil black with blood-orange hues if you search for them. Taste...again, imagine an Angel shitting, pissing, and climaxing into your mouth at the same time....that’s about it. Medium-thin body. Big sweetness with a well paired hop profile that tries to fight an uphill battle. I stopped rating awhile ago...this one deserves some hype.... GET SOME

On tap at Frisco Grille: Pours an oily opaque black with a thin ring of beige bubbles. Has an intense sweet dark caramel, chocolate and bourbon nose with some dark fruity esters. Starts with a chewy viscosity and rich sweet maltiness with dark chocolate, vanilla and coffee on top of loads of bourbon. Finishes warming and sweet. This is a little on the boozy side right now, but should mellow with some age.

Tap at Frisco Taphouse. Pours opaque black with a small, bubbly tan head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is heavy bourbon and vanilla, oak and dates, chocolate and roast malt with earthy hops and coffee notes. Flavor is malt and bourbon dominant with oak, dates, and vanilla notes, velvety chocolate and a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

MadRobin (989) - Silver Spring, USA - DEC 6, 2012
On tap at Frisco Taphouse & Brewery in Columbia, MD. Opaque, black-brown with thin tan head and very good lacing. Aroma of bourbon, oak, vanilla, dark fruit, molasses, dark roasted malt and chocolate. Taste of toffee, molasses, vanilla, dark fruit, sweet roasted malt, chocolate, oak, bourbon and more toffee. Somewhere in all that dark, sweet, malty complexity is a hint of Belgian funk that really makes this beer. Full body and low carbonation. This comes across as a blend of a Belgian strong ale with a very sweet bourbon barrel stout. Delicious, complex, extraordinary and intoxicating. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
