COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A category five hurricane of roasted malt precariously balanced by a supercell of American hops, this double American black ale is an unstoppable force of flavor. Tear the top off and hold on tight; Nothing’s more intense than when...Lightning Strikes Twice

Bottle... Clear, midnight black pour with crimson flashes and a small, creamy, off-white head. The aroma is a simple intermingling of chocolate and toasted nuts. Full-bodied and silky with gentle carbonation. The flavor mainly consists of caramel malts accompanied by just enough lupulin to balance things out. Finishes malty with subdued, tannic bitterness.

Black pour, khaki head. Citrus, chocolate, and fudge. Nice palate, bitter hops, citrus, florals, chocolate and sweet.

Bottled: unk Black, same tan foam as the single version. Smells like a more intense of the original obviously, with molasses, graham, some toast, a big dose of cocoa, some more licorice. Good nose, not in line with typical ABA, but it’s nice. Flavor is nice and dark malty, with a solid soily good molasses and cocoa character. There is little to no hop character in here to me. Medium on full bodied with low carb and a wet finish. Good beer, just like the single version, not an ABA by my standards, but good.

Boutip (4863) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 23, 2013
Bottle: Poured a black color ale with a quite large foamy dark brown head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of green bitter hops with light dry roasted malt notes. Taste is also dominated by dry bitter roasted malt with light green bitter hops notes. Body is quiet full with medium carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Well brewed with nice grassy/green hops notes but maybe a bit too much astringency in the aftertaste.

MadRobin (2069) - Silver Spring, USA - SEP 17, 2013
Poured from 22 oz. bottle. Opaque, black-brown with a thin tan head and good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, caramel, cocoa, licorice and very mild grassy hops. Taste of sweet roasted malt, chocolate, earthy hops, molasses, dark cherries and mild piney hops. Full/medium body and medium/low carbonization. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Pours almost black with a fizzy tan head and decent lacing. Tastes a bit like coffee, slightly sweet, medium hops, light body. Low carbonation. Smell like mild coffee and nuts.

Bottle shared at thirdeye11’s birthday party. Dark brown to black pour. I get a ton of chocolate in both the flavor and aroma. I also get some nice roasted malt, as well as some nice pine from the hops. A very nice Black IPA.

(22oz bottle) cloudy deep brown, wispy tan bubbles that are creamy. Nose is so rich, milk chocolate, honey, chocolate cake, very complex. Taste of milk chocolate, lightly hoppy, dark chocolate, very easy drinker, excellent and nothing wrong with this one. One of my favorite black IPAs ever.
