3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 nuplastikk (3353) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 14, 2012
12oz bottle shared by Anndiesel. Filtered tan-brown body, steady thin off-white head. An OK brown at first..but it seems like it has some vanilla added, giving it that cream corn, cream ale taste too. Too candy sweet, not enough depth, hop balance, robustness ect. If they didn’t add anything I’m surprised. Does have some pleasant nutty tones.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jgb9348 (4027) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - NOV 30, 2012
Nice clear strong ruby-tinted light amber coloured body with a deeper glow and a thick, four centimetre thick light brown head - nice. Aroma of light earth, nuts, malt, caramel and a hint of lactic scents. Medium-bodied; Assertive earthy and nutty malt with a lot of caramel, some light spices and a ton more nut flavours. Aftertaste quite complex with malt, caramel, toffee and then the nuts - peanuts, walnuts, cashews and a lot of earthy bite. Overall, a very pungent and relatively complex nut brown - this is what this style should be judged against - quite good and very nice to sample. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 24-October-2012 for US$1.79 sampled at home in Washington on 29-November-2012.

From a bottle poured a brown color with a fair amount of head. Toasted malty flavor with a quick finish.

12 ounce bottle. Cherry red, brown liquid with a small beige head. Light nutty toasted malt nose. Tart toasted malt flavor hints at pecans and apples. Light body and flavor. Some butterscotch in mid-taste and finish.

Great brew, not too heavy, not too light. Just right. One of Duclaw’s best.

Pours a hazy brown/amber with a medium tan head. Aroma has some dark fruit, booziness, and an odd magic marker smell. Flavor is nutty with earthy/bitter hop notes and a mild metallic taste...some fruitiness...nothing like it is billed to be. Mouthfeel is medium and silky with an earthy/roasty finish.

Bottle. Pours deep amber/gold with a big, foamy heady. Aroma is all sweetness. Taste is like...well, nut toffee. Super sweet but not cloying. Probably the most spot-on toffee taste i’ve ever had in a beer. Though even a 12oz makes me feel like i’m getting diabetes.

Bottle. A candy brew that smells and tastes delightful, though it’s borderline cloying, and leaves the mouth feeling quite sticky. The maple, brown sugar, and nut (cashew?) notes play well together. For a sweet brown, it’s really enjoyable.

12oz bottle, thanks to my parents for picking this up. Good toffee / hazelnut aroma. Light nuttiness. Nice sweet taste, in a good way. Good sweet toffee hazelnut aftertaste. Good crisp lighter carbonation, medium body. Clear light brown / amber color, nearly no head. Interesting, but merely OK brown
