Great brew, not too heavy, not too light. Just right. One of Duclaw’s best.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours a hazy brown/amber with a medium tan head. Aroma has some dark fruit, booziness, and an odd magic marker smell. Flavor is nutty with earthy/bitter hop notes and a mild metallic taste...some fruitiness...nothing like it is billed to be. Mouthfeel is medium and silky with an earthy/roasty finish.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours deep amber/gold with a big, foamy heady. Aroma is all sweetness. Taste is like...well, nut toffee. Super sweet but not cloying. Probably the most spot-on toffee taste i’ve ever had in a beer. Though even a 12oz makes me feel like i’m getting diabetes.

3.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. A candy brew that smells and tastes delightful, though it’s borderline cloying, and leaves the mouth feeling quite sticky. The maple, brown sugar, and nut (cashew?) notes play well together. For a sweet brown, it’s really enjoyable.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle, thanks to my parents for picking this up. Good toffee / hazelnut aroma. Light nuttiness. Nice sweet taste, in a good way. Good sweet toffee hazelnut aftertaste. Good crisp lighter carbonation, medium body. Clear light brown / amber color, nearly no head. Interesting, but merely OK brown

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured this beer from a regular bottle into a trumpet glass to drink. The beer had a light brown-dark copper color with an average, foamy tan head that had average retention and cling, but good lacing. It had a malty nut and caramel aroma with some earthy tones, a bit of sugar, and light toffee. The taste was a malty caramel and nut blend along with a slight grainy earth effect. The body was fairly thin and airy, and was somewhat dry, with low to average carbonation.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark brown nut caramel color. Smells of nut, toffee, vanilla, caramel, and butter. Taste is a strong caramel with hints of coffee, hops, nut, and vanilla. Nice.

UPDATED: NOV 9, 2012 Did not like this bee very much. Did not get the toffee as advertised. It wasn’t creamy either, more bubbly with a weird ting in the throat. Also, wasn’t very brown, more amber.

Too much toffee character. If you’re a fan of flavored coffees then this might appeal to you.

12 ounce bottle from Once Upon a Vine. Pours a clear reddish amber color with a thin creamy tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of brown malts, grain, chocolate and caramel. The taste is toffee, brown malts, faint hops. Medium bodied. Solid beer. 5400th rating!
