Bottle to glass. Pours a clear deep amber light brown mahogany color with a thin light brown head. Aroma is a mix of toasted malts, nutty, with a hint of toffee and caramel. Nutty caramel sweetness in the flavor. Light in body for a brown with a lingering caramel sweetness. Not too shabby.

Pint on tap. Brownish beer, clear, no lacing. Pretty malty, as advertised, toasty too, sweet but not cloying. I don’t taste caramel, but i get the almond. Tasty, a fun beer.

Bottle. Just about what you’d expect from a cleanly and competently made toffee beer. Rich red color, shine, standard head. Sweet sugary aroma and brown sugar and toffee flavors. Gotta be in a mood for something like this myself, but it’s decent. (#5282, 10/8/2013)

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap 5 oz. sample at DuClaw in Bowie, MD.
Clear, mahogany with a pale khaki head and good lacing.
Aroma of caramel, toffee and nuts.
Taste of toffee, brown sugar, caramel, mild dark fruit and a barely perceptible nuttiness.
Medium/full body and medium/low carbonization.
A pleasant sweet brown beer, which is virtually all malt. It starts off strong with caramel and toffee, but lacks complexity and ultimately fades as it drowns itself out.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at DuClaw Bel Air.
Appearance: Clear mahogany body with a creamy light tan head.
Aroma: Nutty with toffee, cocoa, and caramel. Leans a bit sweet.
Taste: Dry nutty intro into a moderately sweet caramel, toffee, and cocoa mid-taste with a dry roasted peanut finish.
Palate: Medium bodied, moderately carbonated.
Overall: Really good brown ale, complex and drinkable. I’d like this in bottles.
