Draft. Pours deep, clear amber with and small, fizzy off-white head; decent retention and lacing. Aroma is toffee, caramel malt, and toasted pine nuts. Flavor is more subtle than expected; toffee/caramel malt heavy with very faint earthy hop undertones. Light body, medium carbonation, and low warmth.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 beachbum25 (1053) - Powellville, Maryland, USA - APR 10, 2010
On tap @ Arundel Mills. Brown pour w/a moderate head. Roasted malt/nut aroma. Some flavors of caramel, almond, roasted malt, toffee. Had some decent flavor to it, more than a lot of Brown Ales. It’s no secret these beers aren’t my favorate style, & I really only drink them if I can get a sample for a free ratings tick, but this beer wasn’t bad. Still wouldn’t seek it out, I just find this style boring.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 SHIG (2705) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - OCT 5, 2011
Draft: Poured a red brown with off white colored head. Aroma was light malt. The taste is malty up front with a grassy hops back. Didn’t really get this beer really.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 willblake (2601) - Bel Air, Maryland, USA - MAR 24, 2010
20100324 Tap at Bel Air location. Dark burgundy color, clear, with lasting beige head. Aroma is actually a bit odd, because while there are absolutely some caramel malt notes, some marshmallow, raisin, there is also a disconcerting whiff of old crusty ick. And I definitely know that smell, and its not on my sleeve or anything. I checked. Body is pleasant, creamy, full, and slightly sticky. Flavor is lush with toffee, marshmallow, toasted coconut. Slight lingering earthy bitterness cleans it up at the finish. At first, once past the aroma, this beer is interesting and successful, but it goes from novel to tiresome after half the glass and eventually, sadly, I just couldn’t wait to be done.

Pours a browish amber with a smaller off white head. Aroma was all toffee, almost in an artificial way. Tasted like toffee soda.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 chriso (7065) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 22, 2011
On tap at Duclaw, Bowie on 14 July 2006. Mid brown / copper colour - quite good looking. Sweet shop confectionery, cream soda and bubblegum are prominent in the aroma and flavour. Very sweet and rather sickly. Not really my thing at all. Certainly not euphoric.
2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 ryan (3068) - Beltsville, Maryland, USA - SEP 16, 2007
Murky brown body with tiny beige head. The aroma is toffee, nuts and raisins. The flavor is quite sweet, lots of toffee, lightly herbal hops, some dark fruits and nuts. Medium body is rough with moderate carbonation. It was a struggle to finish this one.
