Someone call George Clinton because the Funk is about to arrive. DuClaw’s latest creation, Funk, is a blueberry citrus wheat ale that screams summer with an almost shandy-like crispness and flavor. This brew features Meyer lemons and blueberries as well as Cascade and Columbus hops. Look for this beer on shelves starting next Friday.

A decent fruity wheat beer. The beer poured a cloudy dark yellow color with a small white head. The head dissipated rather quickly and left no lacing whatsoever. The nose was bright and fruity with notes of blueberry, yeast, light bread and cloves. The flavors were sweet and fruity with plenty of blueberries and slight hints of banana, wheat and cloves.

Very light and tasty. Berry beers never seem to work well in my opinion, but this one is nice. Definitely a "chick beer," but fine in its own right. Certainly not heavy on the hops but the bread malt and the slight sweetness and wheat go well with the definite blueberry taste and lemon zest. Not as sweet as I expected, and very refreshing. The distributor brought various DuClaw beers into my restaurant recently, and it didn’t take long for us to agree that we should add The Funk to our beer list. Of course the name is stupid an irrelevant, but it is a nice beer.

Pours a honey tone with a white head which is gone in an instant.....aroma of a flat kind of blueberry, touch of honey......taste is different, like thin honey with a blueberry taste in the end and a touch of bitterness to keep it honest. Near cloyingly sweet, wouldn’t mind to see it drop a few more points on the final gravity, almost a diabetic kind of experience.

Aweful taste. Was expecting something good like most of their brews, all I could taste was basically dirt. Horrid.

Recommended by a work friend, and had been seeing that damn strange logo everywhere I go. Bottle to teku, fizzy and quickly-rising head atop a bright straw-orange. Even before I put my nose to it, I could smell it radiating that blueberry from afar. Candy-like sugar qualities over a slightly-bready and honeylike base. Flavor is much less potent, little sweetness, almost aspartame-like, seemingly watered down with seltzer water. Strange. Nose is misleading.

The pale hops are missing. I don’t need an ipa, but there was to little flavor other than blueberry. Light blueberry. Light color. Not much aroma. Tap

slightly cloudy amber color; blueberry aroma; blueberry flavor on a light wheat malt base with hints of citrus; blueberry flavor is not at all overpowering or sweet; a nice, refreshing bee

Aroma of blueberry and wheat, pours a hazy golden with a thin white head. Mild flavor, with just a hint of blueberry. I’m not really picking up any citrus here. Light bodied and easy drinking. It’s a non-offensive light summer beer with a touch of fruit.

Bottle at Coach House Grill in Old Harper’s Ferry. Nice blueberry aroma. Golden pour with almost no head and none that lasted more than a minute. Bubbly mouth feel with a flavor that fell a touch off the nice aromas. But I expect that from any non-German wheat beer. Not bad for the style.
