4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
22 oz bottle poured into a tumbler pint glass.
A: Pours a very dark brown color - hell, I think Iíll call it pitch black. The beer looks decently thick while itís being poured, as well. The head is a two finger lighter tan color with lowish retention, but a fantastic texture; one that leaves a spotty wall of lacing as it recedes. A damn nice looking beer.
S: Chocolate (lots of it), lighter coffee, some licorice, and plenty of roasted malts. A textbook porter, yes, but the aroma is nonetheless tantalizing. Rye malts are neutral on the nose.
T: Fantastic. Itís partly reminiscent of Founders Breakfast Stout, one of those beers so good itís hard for me to analyze and pick apart the flavor profile - I just want to drink the stuff. The initial tastes of chocolate are awesome, before giving way to a midtaste of darker fruits and faint vanilla. Slight rye spiciness finishes things nicely as a complement to the roasted malt, providing a nicely subtle layer without hurting balance. Not too bitter or sweet, although midtaste flavors have a light sweetness to them.
M: The body is medium, while the texture has a nice smooth feel to it. Rye partially scrubs the palate clean with a pleasant drying sensation, but thereís still a slight lingering aftertaste of roast, fig, and plum. Moderately carbonated and insanely drinkable.
O: Itís one of those beers that manages to combine a big flavor profile with incredible balance/drinkability, to the point where Iíd seriously contemplate killing a second bomber of this. Pairing this with dark chocolate really allowed this to come into its own. Without a doubt, itís one of the better porters Iíve had to date.

Bottle... Pours black with a mid-sized, beige head. The nose is a mťlange of fudge, brownies and roasted rye. Full-bodied and velvety with modest carbonation. The flavor is all about roasty, dark chocolate maltiness. Near perfect balance. Finishes bland with no aftertaste and no flaws. Not a lot of rye flavor, but a rock-solid porter nonetheless.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
There are wonderful sweet chocolate and coffee flavors, I am getting tiramisu, caramel, and Irish cream liqueur on the plate and in the nose. Pours dark unclear thick blackish in color with a huge creamy darker beige head with a cinnamon hue. The body has a wonderful creaminess at well which develops nicely as it gets warmer.

Pours black with a cream brown like foam that just hugs the ring of my glass. The aroma is of malts, chocolate, lite smoke, and lite fruit. The flavor has malts, bitter chocolate, and a touch of rye in the finish. The after taste is pleasant. The X1 is balanced nicely. No ingredient comes off too strong. Overall this was a fine brew, well worth trying.

Black pour with a decent sized khaki head .... aroma is all chocolate baby, with a light roasted and caramel malt ..... taste is of chocolate/cocoa, roasted and caramel malts ..... body is nice and full with a light oily/slickness to it .... finish is lightly bitter ... the rye is hardly there, but this is a solid imperial porter .... almost reminds me of a southern tier choklat

Bomber from The Perfect Pour, Elkridge, MD. Viscous, oily, near black pour with a silky tan head on top. Nose is richly sweet as expected, but in addition to the hints of roast coffee the spice and grain give this a depth dimension that redeems it from being overly cloying. The hefty mouthfeel gives it even more of a bready quality, an earthy dessert like a hippie muffin or something. Plus breakfast stout. Whatís not to like?

Serving: 22 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a viscous black with a thick tan head. The nose has notes of soy sauce and chocolate. A little smokiness emerges as it warms. Full bodied and rich on the tongue. A little sweetness combined with notes of soy, dark chocolate, earthy malt, and smoke. Quite the combination. Very tasty stuff.
