Growler poured deep brown/black. Huge cocoa and dark malt aroma. Very thin tan head. Rich body of cocoa and sweetness, yet not cloying. Thick mouthfeel with a nice dryness at the back end of the swallow. Rich but not heavy. One of the best beers they have made.

Nose has lots of rye whiskey, chocolate, and coffee...
Dark brown pour, small light brown head...
Flavor is much the same, lots of whiskey and chocolate flavors...
The body is full, with a creamy, slightly chalky, feel, and mid heat...
Interesting for sure. Not too sweet, but still a lot of chocolate. Also, rye whiskey flavor is prominent and clear.

Poured black with a thick brown head that faded quickly. Aroma has lots of rye, chocolate, and coffee. Taste has more rye with roasted malts. Slightly nutty and bitter. Quite smooth. Finish has even more rye, maybe too much. The balance is overall very good, but I would have liked it a tad sweeter maybe.

On tap Whole Foods. Typical black w. tan head. Aroma of dark fruits and chocolate. Decent rye taste upfront, with chocolate and dark fruit in middle, ending strong with chocolate and some bitter coffee. Nice creamy mouthfeel w. med. carbonation. Overall it's really solid and very happy with this choice!

22 oz. bottle. Mine says 8% ABV. A mahogany/near black pour with a thick and creamy chestnut head. A pleasant aroma of caramel, chocolate, coffee, rye, and pumpernickel bread. Goes down medium to full-bodied and rather smooth. The taste starts with plenty of sweet caramel maltiness, rich milk chocolate, and some espresso. A rye breadiness in the middle. A semi-sour finish with some bittering black coffee and a little citrus. Tasty stuff.

Poured from growler. The aroma is mostly chocolate with a little nutty and a slight licorice smell as well. The appearance is black with a decent light brown head that goes away pretty quick. Taste is about the same as the smell (which is not a bad thing!) Lots of chocolate and a slightly sour aftertaste, not really tasting the rye. Pretty thin texture and kind of bitter. Decent porter overall.

I think this is the one that was on tap today. Dark beer with a lot of flavor, but a little bitter. Wasn’t strong on the whole of the beer, but did like the flavor and look.

Cask. Pours deep, dark brown with thick, frothy tan head; good retention and some lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, ground coffee, plums, figs, earthy hops, rye, and light chocolate. Flavor is malt dominate with supporting dark fruit esters and faint hops; dry, chocolate finish. Medium body, low carbonation, and medium warmth.
