3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
"XXX-1 Pin-sanity" at Arundel Mills location on 03/30/12. Came to the table a deep mahogany color with no head at all. There was a fairly subtle aroma of cocoa, Baker’s chocolate, black coffee, some caramel, and a little jalapeno. Went down light and kinda watery with a relatively low level of carbonation. LOADS of spicy jalapenos were present the whole way through taste-wise. Touches of caramel, dark chocolate, and roasted coffee were present as well. The jalapenos were so hot that they overshadowed everything else. This burnt like hell! "Chocolate Heat" is definitely apropos. Reminiscent of the Mikkeller Texas Ranger, though not nearly as high quality. Still, I thought this was delicious.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a dark black color with no head. Pretty uncarbonated. Has a very strong spicy aroma. Smooth chocolate taste with a burning aftertaste. Probably the spiciest beer I have ever tasted. But pretty good still.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured a very dark brown with no head. Aroma has good rye notes with chocolate and caramel. The jalapenos are definitely noticeable in the aroma but they are not overpowering. The taste, on the other hand, is quite spicy. Lots of jalapeno flavor with chocolate. I needed another beer to help with the burning sensation in my throat. Overall it’s still pretty interesting with good flavors and definitely unique.
