COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Haunting the congregation with its distinct copper color and rich toasted malt flavor, this true German-style Oktoberfest lager is smooth in body and uses German hops in the brewing process to balance out the distinctive, toasted malt sweetness. The clean smoothness is created by the long conditioning (lagering) process of 8 weeks.

Mild hops for an Oktoberfest, but a nice tangy character that makes it a truely enjoyable drink.

I’m a fan of the Oktoberfest brew. Last had at the Spring Maryland Beer festival. Much to my suprise, as I was stumbling about the fairgrounds, to come across DuClaw’s tent with a ’Mad Bishop’ sign raised to announce it’s presence on tap, 6 months after its release. Really not the best Oktoberfest, but it is f’ing phenominal in Spring, when another Oktoberfest brew is no where in sight. Sweetness subtly sneaks up on you as the balanced character of the brew fulfills the palate. My Favorite DuClaw brew.

2004 batch. Served at Duclaw’s rollout party of 2004. Served in a ceramic pint complimentary glass. Color is dark amber, a true Octoberfest colored beer. Aromas are of sweet malts, slight toastiness, earthy hops. Balanced to a "tee". Maltiness is well balanced by the noble hops, and nothing stands out above anything else. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel lends itself to easy drinkability. Rich mouthfeel isn’t too thick, nor too thin, but just right. A first class Octoberfest beer from the gang at Duclaw’s. You owe it to yourself to get a couple of growlers to go, like I did, before it’s all gone.

This beer rocks. Handsome beer. Pristine copper hue. Medium sized, white, frothy head with good lacing. Very malty, slightly sweet. Lively carbonation. Full bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. Finishes nice and fairly dry (for an Oktoberfest.

Dark amber appearance with a fruity, floral aroma. Taste had a toasted malt flavor with a bit of nuttiness. Some sweetness, but not enough to be distracting. Smooth, finish with a small degree of spiciness.

Light malty aroma with an amber body. No head, no lace. Malts and hops. Malts are sugary with an amber-like quality. Clean finish.

Aroma-Nutty aroma with a hint of toffee and carmel notes. Appearance-Amber color with a minimal white head like most duclaw beers. Taste-Medium sweetness and bitterness. I wish it were a little more malty in taste but that is being nit picky. Overall-I like this beer. Is it the best oktober fest beer? No but it is a very good beer. I could drink this all of the time.

Poured from bottle a nice cooper with a just off white head. Aroma was pure malt as was the taste with a touch of caramel and a nice sweetness. Most find this a boring category but I rather enjoy German malty beers and I think this one is a great rep for the category. Medium body and curtains of lace. Enjoyed

On Tap @ Arundel Mills-Poured a copper/amber color w/a slight tan head. Roasted malt aroma. Had some hops up front but not overly strong. Traces of roast caramel/toffee, almonds, spices, & a touch of wheat/grain. Very true to style, like a good Amber Ale. Very refreshing w/a crisp, clean finish. refreshing.
