3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 obguthr (2576) - Poquoson, Virginia, USA - FEB 27, 2011
Peach and marshmallow creme aroma. Clear orange, medium head, little retention. Fruity peach and lemongrass. Medium bodied, tangy, very palatable. Wheat bread finish. Alcohol well concealed. Superb balance and texture. Lacks wheat character. Drinks more like a lightly hoppped DIPA, but quite delicious. This is my first Duclaw, but I’m liking what I’m seeing so far.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 dengleberry (22) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - FEB 13, 2011
Bottle: nice golden color. Beautiful sweet aroma. Taste raisins, maltiness and maybe a hint of tropical fruit. The abv is not overpowering. Nice overall beer.

22 oz bottle. Clear copper with a lacy white head. Nose is toffee, pastry dough, parsley and something funky. Medium body with a tingle. Taste is candi, wheat, grass and pink grapefruit. Thinking this would be too sweet but actually finishes with a nice balance.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 Arayaga2 (1500) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 3, 2011
Clear gold in color with just a bit of white head. Aroma is apricot and guava, with sharp alcohol poking through a bit. Taste is the same with crazy Mike and Ike (NZ hop?) fruity/citrusy notes. Unobtrusively carbonated, with biscuit and a mildly astringent tree-barky bitterness into the finish. Fantastic, like pretty much everything from DuClaw. $9/22oz
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 lamas (1069) - Washington DC, USA - JAN 30, 2011
22 oz. bottle. A clear copper pour with a smallish off-white head. A sweet aroma that features some Golden Delicious apples, golden raisins, vanilla extract, and a little oak. Some juicy oranges, lemons, grapefruits, and some floral qualities become apparent after it sits some. Medium to full-bodied and just a touch syrupy on the way down. Caramel, candied sugar, and vanilla upfront in the taste. Peach and apricot follow. Some sweet oranges at the end along with a touch of bittering grapefruits. Quite sweet all the way through. A tad cloying by the end. Not nearly as warming as I would’ve expected based on the 10% ABV. Not bad at all.

Very nice. On draft, wish I could age some of this. Even the 10.8% isn’t overpowering. Very sweet on the nose and tongue, but then you get a cascade of smooth maltiness. reat effort.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 kmweaver (3046) - Santa Rosa, California, USA - JUL 27, 2006
2004 vintage - Xmas in July at DuClaw, Bowie. Juicy amber in the glas, with firm retention and champagne-like bubble formation. A thing to behold. Pleasant candy sugar nose; sweet hop presence. Tastes(!) like some variety of hard candy, exploding; peach/apricot, some maple syrup, residual candy sugar, with a nice balance of sweet hops and floral notes taking over at the end - overpowering sweetness, except it’s really damn good. Very impressive brew, and nicely held together. I look forward to comparing this to a younger version.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 argo0 (9226) - Washington DC, USA - JUL 29, 2005
(draft) Clear amber body, virtually no head. Need to let warm up. Aroma is moderately sweet, candi sugar, Kool Aid, fruity. Taste is candi sugar sweet, syrup, caramel, fruit (tangerine, fig, melon). Sticky full body with almost no carbonation. Being a wheat beer, I wonder if it has lost something in the aging (this was from the original batch), or if it just did not appeal to me that much -- Kathy loved it.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 hopscotch (7535) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 16, 2005
UPDATED: JAN 19, 2011 Draft at the 2005 Maryland Brewers Spring Fest... This beer rocks!... Orange ale with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. The aroma and flavor are happily married to one another. A giant haze of milk and honey with a swirl of tropical fruit, malt, toffee, butterscotch and caramel. Sweet, but not cloyingly so because the hops and alcohol are subtly and perfectly blended. The alcohol is well-hidden among the wonderful, rich flavors and full body. Deeply creamy. Liquid decadence. Dangerously delicious and smooth. World class effort! You go, Jim.

Aroma of fine malts some slightly spicy hops, first wiff gave some strange unexpected medicinal vibes(reminds me a bit too much of the Serum 2004)Nice amber/gold,served in a snifter and carried a genrous yet quickly dissapating slightly tan head.Very nice tasting concotion(caramel malts,a nice amount of hops)Very lively,med-full bodied mouth that I really liked.Overall this beer was way too similar to the Serum released on 9-1-04 to be unavailable to the growler and be so limited(8 oz. pours).I really liked this one.I just wanted more, but my pocket said no.
