3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 argo0 (9226) - Washington DC, USA - JUL 29, 2005
(draft) Clear amber body, virtually no head. Need to let warm up. Aroma is moderately sweet, candi sugar, Kool Aid, fruity. Taste is candi sugar sweet, syrup, caramel, fruit (tangerine, fig, melon). Sticky full body with almost no carbonation. Being a wheat beer, I wonder if it has lost something in the aging (this was from the original batch), or if it just did not appeal to me that much -- Kathy loved it.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 hopscotch (7535) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 16, 2005
UPDATED: JAN 19, 2011 Draft at the 2005 Maryland Brewers Spring Fest... This beer rocks!... Orange ale with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. The aroma and flavor are happily married to one another. A giant haze of milk and honey with a swirl of tropical fruit, malt, toffee, butterscotch and caramel. Sweet, but not cloyingly so because the hops and alcohol are subtly and perfectly blended. The alcohol is well-hidden among the wonderful, rich flavors and full body. Deeply creamy. Liquid decadence. Dangerously delicious and smooth. World class effort! You go, Jim.

Pale golden pour with a light white head. The aroma is a little bit soft and spicy. Lightly wheaty and a little bit citrusy as well. Light orange peel and sweet toasted malt. A little bit peppery with some lingering richness. There is a kiss of light fruitiness as well.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 CaptainCougar (6835) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - AUG 20, 2011
22oz Bottle: Pours a clear deep copper amber with a spotty-lacing off-white head. Has a sweet light caramel malt and wheaty nose with a touch of grapefruity hops and light fruity esters. Starts with a rich sweet caramel and toffee flavor with some strawberry fruitiness and a touch of golden raisins before a slightly drier and warming finish. Pretty true to style wheat wine, but could hide the alcohol a little better.

Bomber from State Line. Get Joet and Oakes out of hiding, because as I drink this, I have James Caan tied up in my basement, ready to break his legs because I found out he gave my wife the high hard one. At any rate, on to the non-BS review. The pour is clear pumpkin orange with minimal eggshell head. Nose is hard to decipher; a mix of canteloupy fruit, fusels, caramel malt, Gerber pear baby food, and brut champagne. Tastes rich, hoppy, metallic, with caramel malt, pears, and big sticky hops. Finishes hot and discombobulated. I feel your pain, Duclaw, and I would either break my own legs or bang Kathy Bates before I would drink this one again.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Drake (5232) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - FEB 14, 2012
Bomber from the old Whole Foods Market Charlottesville, meaning I’ve had this one at least 9 months. Pours a hazy orange color with a thin frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of toffee, toasted malts and citrus. The taste is toffee, caramel, toasted malts, citrus, berries and a hoppy finish. Medium bodied with faint oxidation notes... more than it should have at this point.
