From the Tap, DuClaw Berwery, Baltimore MD, As a person who hates coffee, this beer was Very Good. Because of my dislike for coffee stouts and porter tend to fall of my beer options.... but wne i saw a chocolate Raspberry beer had to try and i must say much better then i would have guessed.

2004 offering. Raspberries dominate the aroma and taste. Hints of chocolate were minimal; coffee left more of an impression. Typical dark stout appearance, with just a hint of burgundy at the edge. Head was small. Finished with a roasted malt flavor. Very good.

I really wanted to hate this beer, but I couldn't. The mix actually works. Use a decent milk stout and throw in some raspberry coffee and they have a winner. Over the top coffee tones and just a hint of raspberry floating around.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Kathy (241) - Washington DC, USA - MAY 29, 2003
Deep, opaque chocolate brown color. Aroma is of coffy with raspberries than chocolate with raspberries, but there's definitely some chocolate character in there, too. Another float-worthy beer from DuClaw (the Fantome being the other one I've tried). There's not a lot to it, but it's a nice dessert.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 argo0 (9226) - Washington DC, USA - MAR 16, 2003
Clear mahogany body. Aroma is predominantly raspberry, but also has some milk chocolate. Taste is raspberry up front, but light coffee moves in on the tongue to share the spotlight. Not too sweet, which is always a concern with a beer like this one.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 hopscotch (7535) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JAN 26, 2003
Very good beer!
The aroma is of raspberries and Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. Also a bit acrid with chocolate notes.
Pours thick and black. No light's gonna make it past this pint glass. In fact, WAIT, the Sun just got sucked into my glass. That's no eclipse outside, folks. Sorry about the "Lights Out." Blame DuClaw. Huge creamy well-tanned head. Mostly lasting with excellent, thick lacing.
The flavor is of raspberries and espresso with blasts of bittersweet chocolate and buttermilk up front. Very well- balanced with plenty of bitter and pungent hops on the backside.
Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Medium-length, bitter, astringent, dry finish.
Very nice dessert beer!
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jeffin7 (610) - Silver Spring, Maryland, USA - JAN 23, 2003
UPDATED: JAN 24, 2003 Suprisingly good. Definatly a dessert beer. The raspberry flavor is very strong but not overwelming. Behind the raspberry you will find a nice roasted chocolate malt taste. Considering the over the top fruit flavor and the fact that it is a stout (a thin stout) it was amazingly drinkable I couldn't help but gulp it. Stout lovers may be dissappointed in the slight lack of roasted flavors but I gave this beer to a few "I don't like dark beers" people and they all loved it. Worth a try at the end of any meal. I got a growler and I plan to make some ice cream with it. ReRate: Just a note. I tryed this once it got to room temp. and the roasted malt and chocolate flavor raised dramatically and it became a much more balanced beer. Just keep it in mind when you take that first cold sip that pops you with a ton raspberry if its to much let it sit and you may be pleased with it at a warmer temp.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 scraff (2120) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - JAN 23, 2003
UPDATED: FEB 11, 2005 Lighter side of black, thin tan head. Rich nose of chocolate raspberry coffee and cream, with a nice underlying roasty theme to it all. Flavor is one in the same, never sweet, and still gets a slight hop bitterness at the very end. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry roasted coffee finish. If such a thing....a great session dessert beer....
