Duclaw’s Naked Fish is really good. Aroma and appearance are good, and the flavor and overall qualities are unique and interesting.

2012.03.01 - On tap at Always Ron's in tulip glass. Pours dark. Pretty much what it says on the box, chocolate raspberry stout. The raspberry is dialed in pretty well, not too much and not too little. Mouthfeel is not too heavy, a bit of alcohol bite. Not bad.

On tap at release at the Bel Air location. Poured very dark black with a half a finger width tan head. Raspberries and chocolate malts with some coffee are what you breath in the entire pint. Besides the raspberries, chocolate and a sweet taste. Waited a while for this beer, probably a one time buy and will still to the non flavored stouts.

Light black color with a thin white head. Nice robust chocolate and coffe flavors, but the raspberry aftertaste, while slight, was just enough to bring my rating down.

Aroma dominated by raspberry over dark roasted malt. Medium feel for a stout. A little bitter and savory, a touch sweet. Finishes dry with light bitterness. Easy to drink!

UPDATED: MAY 16, 2005 Draft - 2005 - DuClaw, Arundel Mills - Strong nose of fresh raspberries, chocolate, and a hint of coffee. Almost smelled like a chocolate covered raspberry. Coffee flavor was well hidden. Typical stout, very dark, black, hint of purple when the light hit it the right way. It was like having beer for dessert. Don’t have to be a stout lover to enjoy this beer. Hat’s off Jim.

This beer is made with coffe from California. It’s a Chocolate Raspberry coffee which they get in specifically for this beer. Upon visiting the brewery I sampled the coffee and it really lends a great impression to the beer. It starts off a bit dry and pours with a great amount of head. The stout doesn’t have a lot of aroma per say but combining a roast character and the coffee make for a terriffic beer. I can easily drink a growler of this in a sitting and go back for more.

The cofee that DuClaw uses to flavor this seasonal dominates the palate. This year’s example has a very defined raspberry flavor, followed by the ccholoate, then coffee, and then stout. A definite dessert beer.
