Unplug with this golden IPA infused with grapefruit, citrus, and notes of pine by a vagabond blend of seven hops that continues to roam your palate long after the beer’s crisp finish. Pop the top, it’s time to..... disconnect!

bottle that poured medium bright orange color with a white head and decent lacing. medium malt nose with grapefruit and other citrus but not over powering. the flavor isn’t what you would call a grapefruit ipa because its really not...you do get it in the flavor but its blended with other hops to come up with different flavors. it is a medium malt base decent flavor and easy to drink.

12 oz. bottle from Old Town; no bottling date from what I can see, but DuClaw is pretty new to the area, so hopefully that means it’s a relatively fresh beer. Aroma: Moderate pine hop presence with just a hint of citrus; pretty standard semi-sweet caramel body for a roughly 70/30 hop to malt ratio. Appearance: Dingy; well carbonated copper body with a foamy bone head that settles into a sticky skin. Flavor: Pine starts off more subtle and almost in balance with the caramel malts; pine crescendos into the finish, which is on the lighter end of moderate bitterness. Palate: Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation, bitter finish. Overall: A slightly above average IPA, mostly for it’s more interesting flavor arc.

Tap. Pours clear light amber, medium very creamy beige head, great lacing. Aroma is quite nice, grapefruit, hints of perfume, pine resin. Flavor is light plus sweet, medium plus bittter, resinous, some citrus. Strong lingering bitterness. Medium body and a silky mouthfeel. Flavor does not quite live up to aroma, but its better than its ratings.

Very good IPA that poured a cloudy golden color. The off-white head was very substantial and laced nicely around the glass. The nose was fruity and hoppy and the flavors were balanced well. The hop profile was bright, clean and bitter. Some bready and biscuity flavors rounded out the beer nicely. The finish was dry and spicy.

Sales sample bottle from distributor. Ordinary appearance, small head, wonderful citrus hop aroma. Taste is well balanced, citrusy hops, less bitter than expected, little malt. Seems light, and I thought this was a "session" IPA until I read the bottle. Very tasty and drinkable, and very good for a mild IPA. My restaurant/bar can not support a huge beer menu, so when sampling DuClaw beers we agreed on The Funk, and I was outvoted on Neon Gypsy in favor of Sweet Baby Jesus and perhaps a seasonal, but even the non-IPA fans thought this was okay.
