"Aged for two months in whiskey barrels, this classic, creamy Russian imperial stout antes up with aromas of charred oak and vanilla, before doubling down with a hearty, full body and smooth, roasted malt flavor. Though well balanced and highly drinkable, play the odds, respect the game, and remember...all bets are final."

22oz bottle from Gabe. Rating #113. Nice beer, not really that much different from the regular version, just a little bourbon character is the only difference. (2618)

Bottle:   Nearly black, thin whispy light brownish head, sparce lacing.   Roasty nose, ashy, soft dark chocolate and coffee.   A bit dry on the tongue, not real strong in terms of Oak.   Ashy, with a nice campfire roasted malt finish.   Dry on the tongue.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Dry and ashy on the finish.   Would like to see more barrel aged character, but as is its decent.

Pours black with ruby hues and a medium mocha head. Aroma has molasses, brown sugar, dark fruit, and whiskey. Flavor has whiskey, vanilla, burnt wood, molasses...roasty. Mouthfeel is medium/full with a warming burnt/bitter dry roasty finish.

Snifter pour of deep black murky liquid with a healthy khaki head. Nose is healthy booze and whiskey, honey and vanilla. Flavor is also boozy and healthy. I’m digging this one. Plenty of dark chocolate and vanilla. This thing is pretty great.

Serving: 22 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours jet black with a thick tan head. The nose smells heavily of bourbon, roasted malt, and oak. The flavor follows suit. It is a bit over oaked with the wood and bourbon dominating in the beginning. Vanilla, creamy cocoa, and a little earthy mushroom come out as it warms. It could use just a little more balance and harmony.

A nice aroma of whiskey, oak, roasted malts, and vanilla. I taste everything that I could smell in addition with lite dark chocolate and lite coffee flavors. There is a cream stout texture in the black jack stout. The whiskey was impressive. It was not too weak or over potent in flavor. The whiskey blended nicely with the malts. In the finish I get a mild bitterness. Overall I enjoyed this beverage. It wasnt sweet, it wasnt too bitter, it was just right.

22 oz bottle pour. Thick tan head with small and medium bubbles over a dark, but not thick, stout. Big wood and chocolate malt in the nose. Maybe a hint of whiskey there. Easy drinking with lots of complexity - the thin mouthfeel is a good thing here as it allows many other flavors to come through, including the whiskey which adds just a touch of heat to the aftertaste.

The beer is dark brown with a thin, oily, beige head. The aroma brings chocolate, roast, bourbon, oak. Milk chocolate flavor. While bourbon character is present, it's pretty mild overall. At only 8.2%, which is low for a barrel aged imperial stout, this brew is all about smooth sailing and less about bold, aggressive bourbon barrels and hefty roast. Medium bodied, though light bodied for the style. Low carbonation and smooth on the palate. Milk chocolate and/or chocolate milk. Pretty good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Nearly black. Aroma of whiskey soaked brownies, roast, light milky notes. Sweet and bold flavors of fudge, booze, prunes. Good.

22 ounce. Big chocolate and roast taste. Slight whiskey finish. I don’t get intense whiskey, but that subtle after taste. Medium body. Little bit of tart. It’s a fine beer and a lot like others in this mix. Worth trying.
