Served from cask @ DuClaw RAF, 9/6/08. Small tan head, retention is good as is the lace. Lightly hazy, deep amber hued ale. Nose is woody, jumps right out at you, hello! Notes of sweet malts, caramelly with light notes of chocolate. Body is med/full, lightly chewy, oily on the palate, very soft carbonation, coating. Sweet malts, lovely oaky notes, vanilla, faint whisky with a touch of charcoal, cherry and hint of tobacco. Lightly sweet finish, fruity and lasting. Just lovely, a real joy to drink.

Firkin @ DuClaw Real Ale Festival. Deep brown pour with a light tan head. No carbonation. Bourbon, smoke, dark fruits, caramel in the aroma. Wow! Devil’s Milk by itself is good, but this is GREAT! Very smooth for a barley wine. Great big malt mouthfeel with caramel, sweetness some oak, and good hop bitterness. Alcohol is hidden nicely, but a bith too dense for a barley wine that is 2 years old. Another winner Jim!
