22oz bottle. Sticky, syrupy sweet. Hops are there, but they donít quite cover up the abomination of malts. I generally love everything by DuClaw, but this was a miss. Very bad aftertaste from the malts, got annoyed drinking it after a while. Alcohol was well hidden, if thats a plus.

Bottle. Pours dark copper with a thin off-white head. Aroma of sweet malts, caramel and toffee. Flavor was very sweet with caramel, vannilla, bread, toffee, alcohol and raisins

Bomber from Beachbum25. Pours translucent dark copper with a transient slight beige head. Interesting strong malt aroma. Imperial Alt is a possibility. Med body or slightly better - but it thins rapidly. Seems quite toffee - but with enough hop to stand that off. Heat is barely perceptible. Finish is pretty dry, almost dusty. Except malt keeps coming back. With time thereís suggestions of darkish fruit - more fig than raisin. Imperial Alt works for me. Iíve had several, and this one certainly isnít at the bottom of the group. One for sipping with a good book.

Darwenus (534) - Virginia, USA - AUG 10, 2012
Orange/bronze in color, and pours with a couple of fingers of head. The head doesnít hang around long and thereís absolutely no lacing, once the foam is gone itís gone. The aroma is subdued, not a lot going on. A little bit of apples and a hint of hops. The flavor is very sweet and fairly simple. Thereís a bit of vanilla, some figs and a slightly syrupy, medicinal quality at the finish. Thee isnít much in the way of mouth feel, it seems about to coat and then turns watery and is gone. Not bad, but not something Iíll have again.

Bottle from GT - thanks! This bottle sat around for a few years in my fridge before opening. Pours a clear amber with no head and steady carbonation. Very odd off aroma of dried malt and thin sugar. Taste is semi-hot with alcohol and includes some synthetic vanilla, raisin and heavy, sweet malt with a remarkably flavorless finish. Thin mouthfeel. An odd, not quite right beer from start to finish.

20110615 Bomber from State Line. hot mess of a beer, this belongs in the ASA category, for sure. Aroma is spicy with yeast, a dose of diacetyl, and dark bread dough. Coating, sweet, mildly spicy on palate. Sweet all around with little redeeming or cleansing bitterness. Sometimes I think DuClawís brews are just brewed for the label. Oh well.

Thanks to Mike for guilting us into opening this before we finished dinner...Pours a medium clear copper, hints of brown, semi clear. The head is off-white and very light, gone almost immediately...The aroma is god-awful, vanilla and grass mixed in with vomit, really harsh...The taste is more vomit, a little toffee and lots of alcohol. Really not drinkable at all. Skip this beer.

A good beer for what I was looking for at the time. It isnít my favorite ale of all time, but it was crisp and refreshing. This is the type of ale I would drink with a decently heavy meal (steak or something) as it wasnít overly malty.

This poured a mahogany color with an off white head. Aroma was lots of sweet malts, light toast, and lots of booze. Flavor was medicinal, cloying caramel sweetness, some roasted malt, and lots and lots of alcohol. Not good at all.

Pours copper with one finger ivory head; faint lace. Nose of apple, booze, caramel, bread and floral. Very hot taste; even at 11%. Taste of dark fruit and bitter hop. Yeast on the finish.

Coppery orange brown, with minimal head. Aroma is tangerines and caramel. Taste is the same, with an additional sweet, worty undertow that lasts to the finish. This really does seem like an impy alt, $8/22oz
