Black color with very little head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, oak, irish cream or something simular. Thick bodied. Creamier texture. Chewy. Warming alcohol. Medium light sweetness. Complex. Very nice. Would get again. Thanks brother-in-law!

Amazing black pour with thick creamy caramel colored head. Very big bourbon notes on the nose with vanilla and dark roasted malts. Taste is very much the same with a medium thickness to the mouthfeel. I am glad I got to try this one.

Bomber, Bottled on 9/19/11, Barrel #4 of 20. Poured thick, inky black with not much head sticking around. The aroma picked up a decadent blend of sweet bourbon, vanilla, molasses, and chocolates, with accents of rye and coffee.. great! The flavor held serve.. syrupy, darker chocolates, molasses, vanilla, and bourbon at the core, with peppery alcohol and sticky bourbon barrel around.. finished sweet and thick, with barrel well-balanced against the base beer. Heavier-bodied with low carbonation on the palate.. smooth and creamy feel.. held the alcohol in check very well. Awesome!

Pours very dark brown with a nice tan head that fades to a ring around the glass with nice lacing. The aroma is chocolate and bourbon with sweet licorice and a splash of soy sauce. The flavor is creamy chocolate with big notes of bourbon up front followed by a dry boozy finish. The taste lingers on the palate for a while. Low carbonation on this one. This nails a lot of what I want from a barrel aged stout.

Black pour beige head .... aroma of vanilla, bourbon, oak, woody, abv and sugar/dark chocolate with a roasted coffeeness too .... taste is boozy, with vanilla, wood, bourbon and sugary with roasted coffee/dark chocolate and oddly a nutmeg/cinnamon spice to it .... a bit boozy .... interesting brew mouthfeel is a bit thin and oily/slick

22 oz bottle - 2012 bottling. Pours creamy black with medium tan head, very creamy not a lot of lacing. Big roasted notes in the nose. Vanilla, maple, smoked malts, touch of espresso and sweet cocoa. Taste is alive with roastey goodness, vanilla bean, bitter coffee at the finish. Bourbon notes as well as dark dried fruit. Touch of heat at the finish as expected. Medium bodied, creamy. Good brew, not killer.

Draft at the brewpub and bottle. Poured turbid black. with minimal tan head. Nose was dark malt, anise, oaky bourbon, and tasted as it smelled. Well hidden -OH.

[4727-20120818] Bottle. Roasted soya sauce aroma. Brown black body with a quick foamy off-white head. Sweet roasted soya sauce flavour has a lot of barrelly oak wood in it. Full body. Not bad. (7/3/7/3/13) 3.3

Barrel 2 of 20. The beer is opaque and near black with a towering beige head that lingers for several minutes, plastering the glass with sticky lacing as it recedes. The aroma brings big scents of bourbon, detectable from a few feet away. Secondary smells include chocolate, oak, roast. A bit of vanilla emerges in the flavor, and perhaps a touch of coconut. However, this beer is all about the chocolate and bourbon. Nicely done, and on the verge of attaining the next flavor score. A bit sweet, but I had no problem finishing the bottle solo. Medium bodied with appropriate carbonation. Lingering flavors of sweet, roasted malt and a bit of booze. Overall, a nice offering from a local brewery. There seems to be some deviation in the various batches. I look forward to revisiting this beer, and perhaps sampling a different batch. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 02-17-2012

In short: Just another black beer that tastes like ultra sweet bourbon barrel juice.
How: Bottle shared at Camping Brewdown 2012.
The look: Black body topped by a small tan head.
In long: Nose is in-your-face bourbon, couldn’t note anything about the aroma with so much bourbon barrels. Taste is obviously dominated by leftover bourbon barrel juice, loaded with vanilla, some creamy chocolate, very high sweetness sensation. This is a typical over-the-top bourbon aged stout, too sweet and just too much sticky bourbon barrel juice for me. Not bad, just not something I want to drink a full bottle of. A boring Retribution, and trust me I know a thing or two about what a good retribution can be, retribution is a speciality in my family, my parents still call me every week-end at 7am to ask me if I want to play.
