4.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Pours a opaque black with a small tan head. Aroma is straight malt with little hint of brown sugar from the malt. Taste is sweet and malty. Goes down smooth and leaves a clean after taste. Not too impressed but still a good beer.

Sampled about 2 hours after having Brooklyn Black Ops. Very comparable.
Stronger whiskey in the aroma and more overall flavor. Maybe not quite as smooth as Black Ops, but very nice.

Bottle. Definitely the night cap. Thick and meaty, this carries its whiskey barrel roots right up front in every aspect. The aroma is quite subtle, actually, hinting only at a rich, warm beer. And this drinks with an exquisitely well balanced character ... the oak-laden whiskey character is so finely interlaced with the warm, chocolatey beer that youíll want to wish that everyone who tries this can do it so well. Very, very good! (#5344, 11/24/2013)

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Very good bourbon aged imperial. Pours black with little head. This beer starts out with a slightly sweet taste on the palate, followed by a smoky roasted malt flavor. Finished well, but stayed on the sweet side for me.

Poured into a snifter a black with limited off white head and only some lace. Aroma hits you from afar, vanilla heavy with hints of coffee chocolate and bourbon. Itís earthy and malty. The taste is woody, vanilla, bourbon, espresso, carmel malts, caramel sugar. A warming beer thatís oily in the mouth. Wonderful

Bomber from Sloth from 2011 Barrel # 11/20. Nose is chocolate, vanilla, light bourbon, and oak. pitch black with a small cinnamon-tan head. Flavor is rich lightly sweet chocolate, lots of vanilla, and hints of bourbon. Excellent stuff, wish I had a case! Kind of like a less sweet Black Tuesday.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22oz bottle, barrel #20/20, from grape & gourmet. pours a deep, dark brown with ruby highlights that sits black in the glass and is topped by a thick, creamy mocha head that has solid retention and leaves sticky rings of lace. aroma is great with big notes of rich oak, bourbon, vanilla, and toasted malts with dark chocolate, graham crackers, espresso, and toffee backed by subtle notes of licorice, raisin bread, and tobacco as it warms. flavor is absolutely oustanding with rich dark chocolate, sweet toffee, mocha espresso, and cinnamon buns up front backed by rich bourbon, vanilla icing, charred oak, and dark fruits with hints of coconut, toasted pecans, and brown sugar on the back end. palate is rich and full bodied with smooth carbonation and a long, lingering, semi-sweet, bourbon and toasted wood finish. overall, an excellent barrel aged imperial stout and the best beer iíve had from DuClaw. actually, kinda surprised at the low ratings but maybe there is quite a bit of variation between the barrels but #20 is wonderful.
