Serum is our version of a Double(Imperial) India Pale Ale. It is aggressively hopped at several stages of the brewing process including a dry hopping that takes place little by little over a 2 week period. With an OG close to 19Plato, this beer is big and hoppy, yet has a strong malt backbone that keeps the huge hop bitterness from being overbearing. Available in VERY limited quantities and only at our pub locations.

on tap-pours an off white head and gold color. Aroma is sweet citrus hops-lemon (Amarillo). Taste is sweet citrus hops-lemon/bitter (Amarillo), slight syrup, medium malt, alcohol. A good I2PA. Occasional.

Draft in Bowie, nice golden color and big and hoppy with a little sweetness in the after taste. Pretty impressed, enough to get a growler to bring home. Will definitely get again.

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2008 I had a glass with my meal in Bel Air for my friendís birthday and I thought that it was pretty good and should be available more often if possible.

Draft at Fellís Point. The aroma was hops hops hops and floral notes. The taste was also full of hops, and while DIPAís are not my favorite style of beer, this one was very well-balanced, not too bitter. It really packs the DIPA punch.

This one is hard to get. DuClaw does not sell their beers anywhere other than at their resteraunts....hopefully that will change sometime soon. I am rating this from memory. A fine East Coast DIPA. It was incredibly oily in a good way. Have yet to find a DIPA / IPA with a mouthfeel as luxurious as this one.

Amber with a big floral nose, sweet, almost syrupy flavor up front with a big hop finish that balances nicely. Very enjoyable

On Tap-Arundel Mills. Pours a clear amber color w/a slight white head. Nice sweet hop aroma up front. Good sharp hop taste, but not overpowering, flavorful. Had a little bit of a sweet, amber flavor w/traces of sugar, raisons, & toffee. Had a long sweet finish. Not one of those IPAís which are so hoppy they curl youíre toes, but thatís what I liked @ it.

UPDATED: NOV 14, 2011 UPDATE 2011: I just had a pint at Bowie and what happened? Lots of clovey Belgianesque phenols on the finish. Cross contamination? INITIAL RATING 1-19-2007 :I had two drafts at Bowie and two at Arundel Mills. Pours a translucent reddish amber with a nice off white head that coats the glass all the way down. Very nice hop aroma. I would describe it as a fruity wet hop aroma, like fruit loops cereal or scratching a sassafras twig. Initial sweet flavor of cherry hard candy, with accents of nuts and maple. This then transitions to a soft bitterness that carries through to the finish. The finish has a small zap of alcohol before it goes down. A very good, session like IIPA. This is no west coast hop bomb, but that is what I liked about this one. Sort of reminds me of some imperial reds.

Draft, Bowie. Medium reddish-amber color; off-white head which coats the inside of the glass as it heads south. Very aromatic: floral and citrus, dank hoppiness; hints of candy sugar behind it. Nice dank, chewy hoppiness: some grapefruit and oranges, balanced by maple syrup and candy sugar malt. Not harshly bitter at all. Long, sweet hop finish.

Wow! Very strong bite but very drinkable at the same time. This means I had too much for my own good. Took home a growler and it snuck up on me again. Damn! If you ever have the chance to sample this premium, you must! I canít wait until next year!!!
