Serum is our version of a Double(Imperial) India Pale Ale. It is aggressively hopped at several stages of the brewing process including a dry hopping that takes place little by little over a 2 week period. With an OG close to 19Plato, this beer is big and hoppy, yet has a strong malt backbone that keeps the huge hop bitterness from being overbearing. Available in VERY limited quantities and only at our pub locations.

Tap at BWI, courtesy of steptin - thanks! Cloudy deep golden brown, tan head, massive lacing. Aroma of tall grass and straw. Taste is wet grass, citrus/lime. Good balance. Not overly exciting, but one of this brewery’s better offerings.

Shared with Travlr, on tap. Deep golden color with thin head that coats the sides of the glass. Moderate citrus and hops in the aroma. The flavor manages good pine, lemon, and spice in over a mild bitterness. The bitterness dominates the aftertaste, but not necessarily in a bad way. Pleasent.

on tap at arundel mills 6/13/2010. orange brown with a clingy white head. aromas of citrus, wood, caramel, peaches, slight pine and earthy bitter hops. it tastes a lot like it smells... which is a sweeter richer version of the venom. the medium body is too easy to drink when it is cold but gets a little meh as it warms... caramel takes over then but steers away from sticky. 7/3/7/4/15/3.6

Got on draught. Pours a orangey color common with ipas. Smells very hoppy with some fruit. Tastes sweet at first with a bitter finish. Good blend between the bitter and sweet.

Poured a honey color with almost no head. Sweet aroma of hops and apricots. Taste is hoppy but not overpoweringly so. Hops are backed by a smooth and sweet malty flavor. Well balanced, but not as poweful as other double IPAs.

On tap at Bowie location. Pours clear dark copper with small off-white head. Aromas of hops, citrus, sweet malts, and some caramel. Flavors of citrus, some sweet malts, and a ton of bitter hops. Not overly balanced or that drinkable but this was one of the last beers of my 10 piece sampler and was basically room temp at this point. Will try to make it back in to rerate.

22 oz bottle that seems to be more of an American Strong Ale or a weak Barleywine then a DIPA. Awesome pour of a clear dark copper body underneath a pillowy off white lasting head that leaves some serious lacing on my DFH pint glass. Aroma is rotting oranges, toffee, wet raisin bread. Medium body with a slight coating that is.lightly sticky and mild carbonation with only a trace of alcohol heat. Flavor of old oranges, cardboard, grains, alcohol and raw honey topped multigrain bread. Being in MD I fought this might be a nice fresh DIPA but like always I was very very wrong.

Bottle: Clear bronze copper pour has a clingy-lacing white head. Aroma of sweet chewy caramel malts with some resiny grapefruity hoppy notes. Starts with good rich fullness and sweet sticky caramel malty body with some resiny bittering and flavor hop balance before a sweet caramely finish. Could use a slightly more assertive hop nose and bitterness, but still a pretty good double IPA.

Deep orange with a hint of red. Sweet malt, and nice citrus hops aroma. Sweet caramel malt with a solid resiny bitter finish. Medium bodied with good carbonation.
