COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Serum is our version of a Double(Imperial) India Pale Ale. It is aggressively hopped at several stages of the brewing process including a dry hopping that takes place little by little over a 2 week period. With an OG close to 19Plato, this beer is big and hoppy, yet has a strong malt backbone that keeps the huge hop bitterness from being overbearing. Available in VERY limited quantities and only at our pub locations.

Meh. I found this to be on the line between an IPA and an imperial/double IPA. it had *most* of the aroma, body, and taste, but not enough for me to think "damn this is a seriously hoppy beer." If they called it an IPA, id have given it higher marks; as an IIPA...well...its mediocre.

Pours dark brownish orange amber with an average white head that fades fast to a rim. Does not stand out visually. Aroma is pretty great. Sweet, dank resin predominates with some caramel malt and a bit of orange. Quite an active and clean bright mouthfeel and very balanced. Flavors of citrus and caramel; jammy grapefruit bitter sweet pine goodness. Very well-balanced with a solid malt backbone. Really good.

Poured from 12 oz bottle a hue of amber and orange, fair head and lacing. Aroma of clove, spruce, grapefruit, wet earthen field grass, milk chocolate, and lightly toasted grains. Flavour of big caramel, sweet, sticky malt, pine resins, soft citrus and spicy hops. Body is medium with a creamy, bubbly carbonation. Decent enough I suppose, recommended.

Growler. Drinks very easily for a Double IPA, with hops that are very prevalent but wont rock your face off. That said, when I drink a Double IPA, I WANT my face rocked off. This beer is fine, but there are lot better beers of this style out there to be had.

Some east coast brewers can make great IPAs, and this is one of them. In your face bitterness, but buttery smooth on the back end, super thick creamy head, lacing coats the glass. Plenty warm and glowing.

Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a nice creamy head and some excellent lacing. Has an aroma of bitter hops and pine. Tastes slightly sweet, but quite bitter at the same time.

Pours a hazy hazy copper colour with nice white lacing. Aroma of grapefruit and pineapple. Grapefruit hops flavor with a slight malty aftertaste. Not bad.

Pretty clean and sharp amber pour with two fingers of off white head. Nose is resinous and citrusy with some piney notes with some bready malt backing. Resinous in the flavor with heavy citrus rind. Coating bitterness and piney finish.

Let me start by saying that I am a fan of DuClaw and the beers they make. I had never had a"bad" beer from them. That is, until I tried Serum. I hated this beer. I hated everything about it. I tried to like it. I gave it every chance. I thought maybe it has to be paired with something. Tried it with sweet, tried it with savory, tried it warm, cold... Tastes like your chewing a hop bush. YUK!!!
