Bottle... Pours black with a mid-sized, creamy, taupe head. The aromatic highlights are brownies and molasses with an afterthought of licorice or anise. Medium-bodied with tingly carbonation. The flavor is mostly burnt and bitter with only a touch of sweet toffee. Finishes charred, carbonic and moderately bitter.

Sampled during CBC 2013. Almost black pour with a small khaki head. Roast, dark fruits, coffee, and chocolate on the aroma. The flavor follows with roast, coffee, chocolate, and dark fruits. I dig it!

22oz bottle: Pours a transparent dark mahogany with a clingy-lacing froth of beige head. Has a sweet dark caramel malty nose with some raisins and piny hops. Starts with decent fullness and fine carbonation with plenty of sweetness and mild roastiness with notes of toffee and raisins before a slightly warming bittersweet finish with some lingering dark chocolate notes. This beer definitely seems confused to me and a good example of why blending two beers that taste good in their own regard is not always a good idea.
