COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
First brewed in 2011, this Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter is jet black in color with a tan, rocky head, full body and creamy, luxurious mouthfeel. Its lightly sweet, malty flavor is accented by rich flavors of chocolate, coffee and peanut butter, and balanced by a subtle hop character and moderate 6.2% abv. Sweet Baby Jesus finishes smooth, dry, and roasty with lingering notes of chocolate and peanut butter so savory, you will exclaim its name!

12 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of soft chocolate, some coffee, and peanut butter. Flavour is quite rich with lots of chocolate and peanut butter in lovely balance. Rich and full-bodied for a porter. Delicious.

I thought this had a thin mouthfeel, but was happy with the flavor. Chocolate and peanut butter are well blended with a hint of roast in the finish. Sweet without being cloying. Smells fantastic.

Bottle shared by Matt W. Strong nutty toffeeish peanut butter both in aroma and flavour. Slightly thin bodied but nicely rich, also chocolatey and roasty. Very very tasty, easy drinking.

Bottle from Liquor Barn poured into pint glass. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate and peanut butter. Usually I hate porters, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Pours a dark chestnut brown color with mahogany edges and a one finger beige head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Decent retention with sporadic streaks of spotty lacing left behind. Slightly smokey, robust dark malt aroma with a decent amount of roast countered by sweeter dessert-like chocolate malt and chunky peanut butter. peanut skin, ground nuts and creamy peanut butter actually stand out in the nose. Lightly roasted coffee bean with subtle lactic milk presence along with dark chocolate, caramel, toffee and bread. Interesting take on the style with peanut bitter elements really coming through. Lighter bod than expected with tight carbonation. Probably a little over carved with dry. deeply roasted dark malt bitterness. Somewhat acrid and lacking in much needed sweetness. The creamy peanut butter and silky chocolate notes form nose are missing. Subtle hint of dry, roasted peanuts along with burnt dark toast bittersweet cocoa. Faint caramel sweetness with toffee, bread and biscuit. Looks and smells great but the flavor profile is overly roasted to the point of tasting almost burnt. One dimensional with not as much peanut or chocolate as I had hoped for.

In der Nase Haselnuss-Schockolade mit leichter Rauchnote , Geschmack zwischen Cookie und Nutella, vollmundig, macht Lust auf mehr. Im Abgang deutlicher Abschluss in schwarzem Kaffee. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle. I had never even heard of DuClaw before they showed up in the Louisville market out of nowhere. Had to try it! Pours an ink black with a tan head that leaves plenty of lacing. Aroma of, well....a Reece’s Peanut Butter cup! Taste is milk chocolate and peanut butter up front and nicely blended with toasty malts, caramel, toffee, a combination of citrus and dank pine hops, and a hint of coffee. Medium, almost full bodied. Creamy texture. Moderate carbonation. Dry, slightly bitter finish. Overall this is definitely good and certainly the dessert aspect of this beer cannot be denied. Sweet, but not cloying. However the hops are coming through a bit too much in my opinion and creating an odd dank flavor underneath the chocolate and peanut butter that throws off the flavor a bit for me. Not that it throws it off too much though, as I am a chocolate junkie and definitely intend to buy this many, many more times. Definitely, certainly, and absolutely worth trying if you’re a fan of chocolate and dessert beers.

12 oz. bottle from Old Town; shared with Boo. Aroma: Can’t deny the connection to Reese Cups here... peanut butter is at the fore, and light chocolates notes trail somewhat behind. Appearance: Dark amber brown pour with a foamy tan head that settles into a patchy skin. Flavor: Chocolate and peanut butter up front; peanut butter continues and terminates with a bitter roast-like finish (roasted peanuts or malts?); never devolves into sweet stickiness. Palate: Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, abrupt finish. Overall: Not something I’d purchase on a regular basis, but well thought out and executed; definitely worth a shot for peanut butter and chocolate lovers- that is, anyone who isn’t a sociopath.
