3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: opaque near-black with only hints of clear brown around the margins, one finger of loose light beige head diminishing gradually to a thin skim, patchy lacing. (4/5) Aroma: peanut, chocolate, roasty malts. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate bitter. (7/10) Palate: medium-full body, moderate carbonation, off-dry slightly astringent
Well, Sweet Baby Jesus! Nice solid finish to the advent calendar, and a particularly fun and apropos name to end on. Smells like itís going to be overwhelmingly sweet, but in fact itís pretty well-balanced, with emphatic chocolate and peanut flavour dominating, accompanied by only mild sweetness. (15/20)

Wow! This one really delivers on its promise. Initial opening of the bottle was unpleasant, the aroma right out of the bottle was rather sour and hoppy, but the first sip absolutely convinced me.
The combination of chocolate and nuttiness in this beer reminds me of eating a good brownie and washing it down with good coffee. Itís sweet, without being cloying, and pleasantly astringent and acidic enough to cut the flavor profile well.
You wouldnít think something calling itself a Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter to be balanced, but this really, really is. Exceptional brew, and the next time Iím looking for a beer to wash down dessert, this will be my go-to.
Yum. Well done, DuClaw!

2015 beer advent. Peanut aroma dominates any roastiness. Medium-full bodied. The peanut butter is strong, but not too strong, all around well made beer.

Canít believe I never reviewed this as many times as Iíve had it. Pours a jet black with a 3 finger solid tan head to that dissipates quickly but leaves a nice lacing throughout. The aroma is like a Reeseís Peanut Butter Cup; straight roasted peanuts and chocolate. The flavor is primarily coffee and chocolate with smoky peanut butter at the end. Mouthfeel has a smooth, medium body, light carbonation, with a nice bitter sweet malty finish. I really like it. Big Gruesome is a little better IMO

12fl.oz. bottle from 2015 Craft Beer Advent Calendar. (6.2% ABV) Pours an opaque, dark brown with lots of sediment and a small, short lived, tan head that leaves a ring of lacing. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel and peanuts. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, chocolate and peanut butter with a dry, bitter, espresso finish. Medium body with a smooth, creamy, oily texture and soft carbonation. A great dessert beer. Sweet but not cloying.

2015 beer qdvent caledar. Pours black, thin head. Aroma of dark chocolate cherries, unfortunately it?s a fake chocolate smell. Taste is chocolate, rum, peanut, roasted grains. Very tasty, flavour changes with every sip

Start with it cold and let the flavor develop...starts out with a predominant chocolate flavor that changes as it warms...the peanut ends up being the flavor that comes forward as it warms!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
355ml bottle pours black in color with a finger and a half of light tan head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is peanut butter and chocolate with some light roasted grain notes. Taste is a chocolate malty sweetness with the peanut butter and a light roasted grain bitterness. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, this is one of the most interesting porters I have sampled in a long time. Well balanced and tasty, I highly recommend this for an awesome after dinner drink. You wonít be disappointed.

Very interesting porter with the peanut taste that caught my attention! Might not be the best smelling in the bottle but as a draft it will drive the peanut butter lovers into grabbing a glass! I would suggest it as a dessert or night cap as it will fill you up!

Bottle, sourced by Thiru in Geneva. I was intrigued but concerned by this - Iím increasingly less tolerant of stupid ingredients in beer and peanut butter seemed to be pretty much up there in weirdness. Peanut butter also isnít really my thing. Jet black pour, thin white foam. It was actually quite nice, some nice sweetish roasty chocolatey malt flavours and an unusual nutty sweetness from the peanuts with a warming boozy base. Not sure Iíd go out of my way to brew a batch myself with peanut butter, but this was an experiment which turned out ok for a change.
