COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sweet Baby Jesus Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter is a complex, robust porter. It is jet black in color with a tan, rocky head, full body and creamy, luxurious mouthfeel. Its lightly sweet, malty flavor is accented by strong notes of chocolate, coffee and peanut butter, and balanced by a subtle hop character and moderate 6.5% abv. Sweet Baby Jesus finishes smooth, dry and roasty with notes of chocolate, espresso and peanut butter so tasty, you’ll have no choice but to exclaim the name!

Pours black in the glass. Awesome aroma of Reese’s Peanut Butter cups. Creamy on the palate. Nutty peanut flavor, mixed with coffee and cocoa. Overall, a solid brew!

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2015 shared by bastarda at oldmanriver’s potluck post-Nikolaus tasting 12/2014. Diluted Snickers and pindakaas give way to a flat sweet porter with a hoppy, metallic edge. Butter is slightly caramelised, suspected rancid before. Not sure what is underneath this artificial goodness, maybe a basic brewing kit porter? Confidently exploring the edge of what craft can and needs to do in an increasingly competitive market before toppling into its own pastiche.

Bottle (trade non Rate Beer member); pours dark brown with a thin tan head; peanut butter and malt aroma; taste is peanut butter and chocolate with a hint of coffee; light bitter finish; better than I expected

UPDATED: APR 19, 2015 Bottle. Nice notes of roast, chocolate malts and nuts. Body was a bit thin for my liking, but the brew was solid overall. Nice dry and sweet finish. Not bad.

Dark malts, very little aroma.... taste is super weak, where is the chocolate? Maybe a bad bottle?

LetsGoState (673) - Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 23, 2014
Appearance is small tan head with deep brown color. Aroma is a not so great peanut butter. Taste at first is a mild, malty porter, but then the peanut butter hits. Overall something I was really looking forward to with the chocolate peanut butter combo, but the peanut butter taste was terrible, which ruined the beer.

Bottle pours dark reddish brown with thick tan head. Peanut butter, roast, chocolate. Moderately bitter and sweet. Medium, crisp body. Just couldn’t get into this ... too gimmicky.

[6600-20140815] Tap. Wafer chocolate aroma is super choco-cereal. Cola brown body with a quick foamy off-white head. Chocolate wafer flavour is just super chocolatey. Full body. Delicious! (8/3/8/4/17) 4.0

DATE TASTED: December 18, 2014... GLASSWARE: Guinness classic pint... OCCASION: a Blackish marathon... APPEARANCE: dark black body with creamy brown head that laces and traces well; head is steady throughout... AROMA: burnt toffee and what can only be described as scratch’n’sniff peanut butter; oats, chocolate and vanilla provide a balance of undertones... PALATE: rich, creamy and medium-bodied; slightly warming at 6.5% ABV; agreeable...TASTE: more peat than peanut; roasted malty goodness--a bit grainy and gritty, as a lunchbox brew should be... OVERALL: expectations were impossibly high here, and unfortunately, the beer could not meet them--but to be fair, its mild chocolate and peanut butter compliments the earthy mouthfeel, and a solid porter is worthy of being sought out...

Tap @ Mellow Mushroom. Dark brown with tan head. heavy whiff of chocolate and some basement plus coffee. Roast and chocolate flavor. Light ish bodied, not as smooth as it could be.
