COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sweet Baby Jesus Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter is a complex, robust porter. It is jet black in color with a tan, rocky head, full body and creamy, luxurious mouthfeel. Its lightly sweet, malty flavor is accented by strong notes of chocolate, coffee and peanut butter, and balanced by a subtle hop character and moderate 6.5% abv. Sweet Baby Jesus finishes smooth, dry and roasty with notes of chocolate, espresso and peanut butter so tasty, you’ll have no choice but to exclaim the name!

Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a deep-deep brown color with a one finger of tan colored head. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave a moderate level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is quite heavy of a roasted malt smell mixed with a whole lot of a milk chocolate aroma. Other sweeter smells of caramel and a rather potent showing of a roasted peanut butter smell also are in the aroma. A bit of coffee is there as well, producing an overall aroma of a somewhat drier peanut butter cup nature. Taste – The taste begins with a sweet milk chocolate taste with a moderate roasted malt and light coffee flavor. While little peanut butter taste is present upfront, it begins coming in soon after the initial flavors hit the tongue. All while this occurs, the sweeter flavors seem to get even sweeter with more milk chocolate and caramel coming to the tongue and with some of the coffee flavors dwindling. A little bit of a roasted bitter flavor joins the flavor at the very end of the taste leaving a nice and sweet chocolaty and moderately peanut buttery flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – For a porter of 6.5 % abv. this one is a little on the thinner side with a carbonation level that is a bit on the higher side. For the sweeter milk chocolate and peanut butter flavors, a bit of a thicker body may have created a slightly better and more dessert like feel, but even said the higher carbonation was actually quite nice for the sweet flavors and made for a more easy drinkability in the beer. So with that the feel was fairly nice overall. Overall – A nice sweet chocolate peanut butter cup brew with a good drinkability and abv. If the body was only a little bit thicker this would be spot on for a dessert brew. Even so this is really a quite nice brew overall.

Bottle to English pint glass. Pours an opaque dark brown, with a sparse yellow head. Totally can smell the roasted malts and the peanut butter smell on the aroma. Has a somewhat disappointing watery mothfeel, but again the flavor is spot on for the description. Pretty tasty.

Bottle at Bubba's Burgers & Beer, Bridgeville PA Appearance - black as can be, slightly transparent around the edges, light brown head that fades fast Nose - hint of namesake peanut butter, roasty notes and a bit of sweetness Flavor - deep roasted malt flavs, evolving into just the right amount of PB at the finish Notes - the bottle suggests I'll proclaim the name! Perhaps. Even if I don't, this is a solid, robust porter with just the right amount of peanut butter flavor.

If you like peanut butter, then the aroma is great. Mild hops undertone, but peanut butter dominates.

UPDATED: JUL 19, 2014 Smells like peanut butter beer. From a bottle. No head, dark beer. In taste, it does have some peanut in the background. However, this beer is kind of bitter and what else can be said? Can I say it is somewhat artificial in nature? Does not live up to its name sake, quite disappointed. Long burnt bitter linger thing going on here. Not impressed. get another name you assholes. Allah Akbar!

Poured a dark brown color with a medium tan head. Smelled like peanut butter. The taste was a dry, chocolate peanut butter. It was like a brownie in a bottle. Very good!

12 oz bottle shared by huhzubendah, thanks Matt! Pours a dark translucent brown with light easily passing as cherry red on the glass. Aroma is salty nuts upfront, with muted sweet chocolate in the background. Flavor is peanuts, roast, chocolate, coffee in the distance. Overall unbalanced, thin mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Overly sweet and artificial aftertaste.

Aroma: Immediate peanut butter presence with light hops. Appearance: Jet black with a light brown head. Little retention. Taste: This follows the aroma. Medium cocoa with a fairly strong peanut butter taste. It had an awkward "Reese’s Puffs" cereal quality, with a medium hop presence that threw off any intended sweetness. Palate: Mild carbonation, somewhat creamy mouthfeel. Overall: this beer was enjoyable for the first few cold sips. Afterwards, it became an awkward challenge to finish with the strange flavor combination. Worth trying once, but I wouldn’t recommend a 6 - pack.
