3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 orangesol (473) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 6, 2013Served on-tap at Al’s of Hampden.
A - Pours dark brown with a small off white head leaving spotty trails of thin lace down the top part of the glass.
S - Smells of fresh toasted peanuts, bakers chocolate and the dark roasted grain. The nuts are strong, combining with the chocolate to make this ones nose exactly as advertised.
T - Tastes just like it smells, maybe with a bit less nuts, making it a bit more balanced. Some light hop bitterness comes through as it warms up. Finish is roasty, lingering on the palate for quite awhile after consumption.
M - Heavy body with moderate carbonation. Smooth, roasty feel. Finish is roasty, lingering for quite awhile.
O- Overall a pretty good chocolate PB beer but not the best I have had. Definitely worth a shot if your into this kind of beer, just don’t expect the something mind blowing.

An OK distraction. Impressive raw peanut flavor and aroma, the chocolate is a little artificial tasting, reeses pbc does come to mind. Body a little middling. Fun for a couple of minutes.

Not normally something I’d go for, but for a buck 99, why not? Bottle. Murky dark brown color, thick beige head. Aroma of peanut butter cups dipped is espresso. Taste is more harsh, bitter and burned peanuts and unsweetened cocoa. It is what it is.
3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 RamyG4 (238) - , New Jersey, USA - JUN 5, 2013
Draught at Bainbridge St Barrel House. Black with a small light brown head. Aroma is roasted peanuts and chocolate, really does smell like a peanut butter cup. Taste doesn’t live up to the aroma; coffee/chocolate, only a little peanut, metallic. Finish is roasted and metallic. Medium body, moderate carbonation.

Awful...Just putrid. I love porters, but this had way too much peanut butter taste in it.

Nice dark pour, beige head. Aroma is roasted peanuts , and chocolate. Palate is a touch thin but still nice. Flavour is really amazing. Totally peanut butter and chocolate. Soo tasty and interesting. Had at CBC opening ceremonies in Washington D.C.

Dark chocolate colored pour with little head. Smells more like candy than beer, very chocolate-peanut buttery. Flavor follows the smell, with a thin mouthfeel. Good beer, but could only stand one at a time

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 dogfishho (510) - Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA - MAY 14, 2013
Smells of dry roasted peanuts and a touch of roasty dark chocolate. The flavors are very similar... not exactly a complex beer. On the palate, it is a touch oily (maybe psychosemantic) and doesn’t finish as clean as I’d like, but otherwise fine.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 pinkie (145) - New York, USA - MAY 10, 2013
Thanks to Bert for the beautiful bottle from Maryland. This poured a dark brown cola color with a ruby hue around the edges. A great head of loose foam that fell fast to a collar and cap with a thin skin that never faded. Soapy wet lace. The nose is peanuts. Dry roasted peanuts, a little salty. Reminds one of a reeses peanut butter cup. Some milk chocolate comes through as it warms and some dark fruits. No alcohol on the nose. There is a little tiny hint of floral way in back. This has a great malt toasty smell too. Taste is peanuts and more peanuts. Follows the nose all the way. The body of this beer is thinner than you would expect from the smell and not very creamy. Malt is deep and has some toast, roast and unsweetened chocolate to go with all those peanuts. Little hint of vanilla. It finishes dry and with some hop bitter on the back palate and in the aftertaste. The dark fruits are lost to the peanuts but they are there in the background as a touch of earth. There is even a little hay on the palate. It’s salty like peanuts and warms slightly as you sip it. This was very enjoyable beer. Unique and very smooth. It’s as though they took your favorite candy bar and made it into a beer.
