COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sweet Baby Jesus Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter is a complex, robust porter. It is jet black in color with a tan, rocky head, full body and creamy, luxurious mouthfeel. Its lightly sweet, malty flavor is accented by strong notes of chocolate, coffee and peanut butter, and balanced by a subtle hop character and moderate 6.5% abv. Sweet Baby Jesus finishes smooth, dry and roasty with notes of chocolate, espresso and peanut butter so tasty, you’ll have no choice but to exclaim the name!

UPDATED: MAR 7, 2014 Poured as a taster - what a crazy beer! There are aromas of roasted peanut butter, slight sweetness, some chocolate and malt. The tastes are peanut right up front, more coffee than chocolate notes on the tongue. I can only imagine delicious ice cream floats with this. Notes from bottle tasting. Pours a rich dark brown, light tan head, leaves moderate lacing on glass. Still a ton of roasted peanuts on the nose. There are some notes of chocolate on the nose, but it is predominantly peanut. Taste is as above. I think there is a bit more chcoloate than coffee now from bottle pour.

Bottle shared by PinkZambia Clear dark brown, aroma of...well... penut butter. As close to a liquid penut butter cup. A bizzare experiment not bad.

Bottle: Brown with a tan ring head. Total PB aroma with flavors almost akin to a Reese’s Peanut Butter cup. Kind of a weird aftertaste - maybe some cola in it. Don’t really like the finish. Nice idea.

Chocolate and peanut butter on the nose. Flavor is more of the same with a roasty character. Full flavored and body. Would have thought this had a higher alcohol content, but alas it is pretty reasonable.

Bottle picked up in Norfolk. Dark brown pour with a nice off-white head. Great aroma of fresh peanut butter and light chocolate. Flavor is roasted malt with a little coffee and roasted peanuts. Pretty tasty.

This draft brew from a restaurant poured a small sized head of foamy brown colored bubbles that were and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque except at the edges dark ruby red brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The mild aroma was toasted malt dark malt and mild toffee. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish with a lingering mild roasted malt aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of roasted malt toffee toasted malt mild hops and brown malt. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.

12oz bottle drank at DCA between connecting flights. Surprised to say that I liked this one. Ordered blind because I liked the name. Definitely didn’t work out as a good dinner beer but it made for a great desert. The peanut flavor is really strong in this, would have preferred more of the chocolate notes but overall pretty delicious really.

I must say, this is a special brew. This whole chocolate/peanut butter wannabe Reese’s porter thing has really taken off of the last year or so -- gone are the days of just porters, now they must involve some gimmick. SBJ throws in the gimmick, but pulls it off excellently. Nose of pure peanut butter rises from a coal black body with brownish head, nice lacing. Taste is chocolate and peanut on a near perfect body that gives you the impression of a milkshake.

Picked up a 6 pack while in DC Heard a lot about this beer - supposed to taste like a reese’s peanut butter cup in a glass - and it does. Plenty of peanut butter taste. Solid beer!

This was poured into a pint glass. Bottled 01/12/15. The appearance had a quick slim finger’s white head that quickly dissipated. No lacing was there at all. The smell started off with more of a chocolate to peanut butter blend but as it warmed, the peanut butter came out stronger. The taste was pretty much the same as the chocolate faded as it warmed. There’s a slight quick salty to sweet peanut butter aftertaste with no finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent session quality on it. Overall, pretty good peanut butter chocolate porter I’d have it again.
