COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sweet Baby Jesus Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter is a complex, robust porter. It is jet black in color with a tan, rocky head, full body and creamy, luxurious mouthfeel. Its lightly sweet, malty flavor is accented by strong notes of chocolate, coffee and peanut butter, and balanced by a subtle hop character and moderate 6.5% abv. Sweet Baby Jesus finishes smooth, dry and roasty with notes of chocolate, espresso and peanut butter so tasty, you’ll have no choice but to exclaim the name!

UPDATED: MAR 7, 2014 Poured as a taster - what a crazy beer! There are aromas of roasted peanut butter, slight sweetness, some chocolate and malt. The tastes are peanut right up front, more coffee than chocolate notes on the tongue. I can only imagine delicious ice cream floats with this. Notes from bottle tasting. Pours a rich dark brown, light tan head, leaves moderate lacing on glass. Still a ton of roasted peanuts on the nose. There are some notes of chocolate on the nose, but it is predominantly peanut. Taste is as above. I think there is a bit more chcoloate than coffee now from bottle pour.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured brown (cola like) with a minimal beige head. Aroma is mostly peanut butter some chocolate in there too and some malts notes. Taste is consistent, sweet, malty with loads of peanut butter and some chocolate. Nice beer, tasty and quite interesting.

this is a pretty good brew in terms of flavor, body and beerocity. but i lift a lot of weights and i am a natures wonder goo fan (as well as coffee and beer) and anyone who knows will tell you the peanut flavor seems off and artificial. sorry gotta recognize that. and the name could be different even though i was expelled from catholic school! hell i wasn’t excommunicated!

Full disclosure, I’m a peanut butter freak, so be aware of that when reading this review. Bottled on 07/02/14. Pours dark black with minimal tan head. Aroma is big big chocolate and peanut butter aroma. I know everyone says peanut butter cup, but damn it is. Taste is lots of peanuts, and chocolate. I’m not upset on that one. A little too effervescent for my taste, though. I would have liked a bit of a creamier texture. I think that’s the only place this beer fails in my book. But if you love peanut butter this is a must try.

Almost black in color & topped by creamy tan head. Dark chocolate, peanut butter aromas and flavors. Tastes like a liquid peanut butter cup.

From 12oz bottle. Pours brown with a touch of off white head. Aroma of peanuts. Peanuts and chocolate/malt come through in taste. Not bad but not great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 ounce bottle shared at Natifest by Shigadeyo. Pours a brown color with a beige head of foam. The aroma is roasty and pea nutty. Dry roasted peanuts are coming through strong. I get some jelly as well. The taste is sweet and peanut buttery. Some pretzel as well. Medium body and moderate carbonation.

12oz bottle thanks to Shigadeyo - NF14 - nose is bread. Sip is pb&j. This is decent but would buy a six pack and say, "I’m drinking these six tonight"?

Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a deep-deep brown color with a one finger of tan colored head. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave a moderate level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is quite heavy of a roasted malt smell mixed with a whole lot of a milk chocolate aroma. Other sweeter smells of caramel and a rather potent showing of a roasted peanut butter smell also are in the aroma. A bit of coffee is there as well, producing an overall aroma of a somewhat drier peanut butter cup nature. Taste – The taste begins with a sweet milk chocolate taste with a moderate roasted malt and light coffee flavor. While little peanut butter taste is present upfront, it begins coming in soon after the initial flavors hit the tongue. All while this occurs, the sweeter flavors seem to get even sweeter with more milk chocolate and caramel coming to the tongue and with some of the coffee flavors dwindling. A little bit of a roasted bitter flavor joins the flavor at the very end of the taste leaving a nice and sweet chocolaty and moderately peanut buttery flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – For a porter of 6.5 % abv. this one is a little on the thinner side with a carbonation level that is a bit on the higher side. For the sweeter milk chocolate and peanut butter flavors, a bit of a thicker body may have created a slightly better and more dessert like feel, but even said the higher carbonation was actually quite nice for the sweet flavors and made for a more easy drinkability in the beer. So with that the feel was fairly nice overall. Overall – A nice sweet chocolate peanut butter cup brew with a good drinkability and abv. If the body was only a little bit thicker this would be spot on for a dessert brew. Even so this is really a quite nice brew overall.
