Crowler. Pours brown and red, licorice , brown malt. And caramel bread. Very average scotch ale but there’s isn’t many standouts in that category.

Sort of a plain beer. Has the expected scotch ale maltiness and low bitterness, a little sticky toffee character but nothing particularly profound. Just solid.

On tap at Due South for the Anniversary party. Cherries, orange peel, cream ale, caramel, muted orange, and boozy notes. A little on the bland side. Brown pour with a kaki head.

Unique scotch ale. Solid maltiness an a very scotch-heavy aftertaste. Pours dark brown with a short frothy head. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap. Moderate malt aromas of toasted and chocolate, moderate to heavy herbs for the hops, moderate sweat for the yeast with wood and sulfur in the background. Head is small, frothy/fizzy, tan with a few spots of lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear dark red/brown. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then the long finish is lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is medium, watery with a soft carbonation and is lightly alcoholic and dry in the finish. This Scotch Ale is a little funky in the aroma but the flavor makes up for it somewhat.

Draft... Jupiter Craft Brewer’s Festival 2013... Hazy orange ale with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head that never entirely dissolves. The aroma is so weak, I could pull absolutely nothing from the glass and, after a while, I got tired of trying. There is certainly no smoke in here. Medium-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and soft carbonation. The flavor is constructed of sweet caramel, toffee and a hint of butterscotch. Finishes minerally and lightly bitter.

Draft at Funky Buddha. Odd. Tasted more like a stout than a scotch ale. Nose if fruit, chocolate and malt. Tastes the same. Bitter finish.

Growler poured into glass. For a scotch ale this doesn’t really have any scotchy type bite to it, not that many do, but when I first got into craft beer I just recall scotch ales being a little too malty for me. This however is nice and creamy. Super smooth and easy to drink.
