4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
My 1st live rate in a long while. This is courtesy of markwise who shipped me some FL goodness in growler format. Thanks Mark. It pours with a slightly hazy deep copper body supporting a nice full tan head of foam that leaves behind some spotty lacing. The aroma offers up citrusy notes like grapefruit and lime peel as well as a thin soft sweet malt backbone. There really isn’t much soft about the flavor. I get grapefruit citrus and pine sap that quickly moves into more and more resiny hop bitterness that leans in the direction more of piney bitterness than citrus. Behind the big hoppy goodness I get a light amount of malt sweetness and a sense of roasted malts. This isn’t a clean refreshing IPA but rather one you can sink you teeth into . . . . over and over again. I will, because thanks to Mark I have 32oz of this tasty elixir. Nice nearly robust resiny IPA.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
32 ounce growler from brewery pours a amber red color with off-white head that lasts quite a while with some nice lacing. Nice piney hop aroma that could be stronger. Nice malty flavor balance in an IPA. Almost a bit of chocolate aftertaste.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Darkest of the Category # IPAs. Deep almost dark amber, small but firm head, loads of lacing. Nose is resiny, small citrus, some herbs. Medium bodied, nice long bitterness. This is very good!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On draft at Due South, Cajun Cafe Fall Festival, and Hunahpu Day. Pours a hazy yellow-orange with a white head. Nose is some sweet caramel, some big citrus and grapefruit notes along with some citrus pith and bitterness. Flavor follows with caramel up front, quickly wiped by the onslaught of citrus and grapefruit hops that continue to linger into the finish. Light to medium in body with a very assertive hop character.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Dixie’s. Deep amber color with a nice white head. Skunky hop aromas. Dank almost pine like hops dominate this ale. A little unbalanced and extremely hoppy, which is ok except for the hops are a little non-dscript and bland. Decent body and mouthfeel with good carbonation. All and all not a bad IPA from Boynton Beach....

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap. Moderate malt aromas of roasted and caramel, pine and grapefruit for the hops, light soap for the yeast, with hints of date and dried cherry. Head is small, frothy/creamy, off-white with good yet thin lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is mostly clear dark amber/orange. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, watery with a soft carbonation. Excellent beer, smoother than their Cat 5. Everything you want in an IPA

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
An orange amber IPA with a thin light mocha head. In aroma, a nice orange pulp malt with nice resinous hops, citrus notes, classic. In mouth, nice resinous floral hops, citrus pulp, grapefruits, intense bitterness. Well done.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
My Bottom Line:
Grapefruit-like tropical fruitiness moves into a wooden, coniferous second half in this sweetish and very bitter IPA.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the hazy dark amber.
-This is not simply a stronger version of Category 3, which is appreciated. It is its own brew.
-Malts are defined much, merely supporting the hop presence.
-The hoppy aroma is muddled ; the finish is the most pleasant part of this brew for the hophead in me.
-The mouthfeel is plump yet drinkable.
On tap at the brewery.
