3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz can from Bottle Shock in Port St Lucie. Orange copper pour with an off-orange head. Citrus, sweet tropical fruits. Guava. A bit chewy. Grass in the nose does not come through into the taste, but overall the blend is well done, it is nicely bittersweet and there is little alcohol presence. A very nice one - the best of the "Category" brews. 14.5

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz can. Orange pour with a huge, chunky head of bright white foam. After the head died down, I was able to smell the powerful hop bitterness. Unfortunately, I immediately started feeling the 8.5% alcohol. I’m not sure why some beers disguise the alcohol well and others don’t - but this one was obviously strong. Well flavored, but heavy on the bitter hops. The malts are here and help to balance the hop character, but have nothing distinctive on their own.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a dark orange-toffee color with a medium sized fluffy yellow-white head that left good lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy with notes of pine, pineapple and tobacco. The flavor was sweet and tart with fruit cocktail, pineapple, sour caramel, a hint of tobacco and a moderate bitterness. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Solid.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Its a bit much. Big chewy IPA heavy on resinous piney hops assaulting your palate. The nose is enjoyable. It looks good in the glass but in the end, its just a big overdone bomb.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
My Bottom Line:
Hefty honeyed malts and simple resinous hops construct an almost Barley Wine-like tangent to Imperial IPA.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam surrounds the shiny amber.
-The mouthfeel is quite heavy for the style.
-Hops manage to build floral and orangey allusions at times.
-This is a clean brew, but the malts mostly share residual sugars and the hops mostly develop plain resins. Not the kind of flavour brightness I look for in the style.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Palm Beach Gardens, FL - Whole Foods - 12 oz can. Medium orange pour, slight haze, silky snow white head. Heavy spruce bent to the aroma, hint of pineapple fruitiness. Bold IPA flavor, strong citrus bitterness backbone, some trailing caramel sweetness, just a touch pineapple fruitiness to mix it up a but. Thickish, rich mouthfeel.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours hazy orange amber with fairly tall white head. Aroma of resin, grapefruit, floral notes, perfume, not as strong as the Category 4 but still dominating the nose. Taste is resinous, floral, bitter but with more caramel backbone and quite a bit of zest. Body is light to medium, smooth, with average carbonation.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
BIF project 2. Appearance: beautiful hazy orange/gold, thin off-white head. Aroma: massive bread malt, caramel malt dominant. Maybe some floral/tropical fruit aromas trying to creep through. Taste: candied tangerine tries to come through but it’s quickly shoved to the side by the huge malt imbalance. Palate: good carbonation allows the palate to catch everything... Just too much malt characteristic. Good beer. Not great. Would drink again, but wouldn’t seek out out.
