COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
En kraftig "Imperial Porter" med kaffetoner och eftersmak av saltlakrits. Inte lika dumdristig som storebror ”Idjit!” men har inga problem med att stå på egna ben!
English Language Label: From the one and only Dugges Ale & Porterbryggeri in Gothenburg, Sweden, an original, robust "Imperial Porter" with notes of coffee and salty liqorice.

Cerveza oscura, aroma de café, ideal como postre. La espuma desaparece rápidamente, el sabor es intenso.

Smells okay. Pours almost headless. This beer tastes flat. Little to no carbonation, a fairly strong coffee flavor, but the flatness is a major detractor. Imagine it was a bad bottle but at $8 I won’t purchase another to make sure.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with almost no head on it. Very strong nose on this that smacks you in the face with an alcohol and licorice smell. I get some of the coffee notes in the taste, but it’s just a bit off. Odd.

33cl bottle from Angst as a bonus in our first trade. Nice brown with a small dark biege head that disappears. Molasses, some alcoholic and anise, roasted malts, dark coffee grinds. Moderate to full body, mild carbonation, anise and mildy sweet with an anise and somewhat bitter finish, more roasted malts. Very tasty.

Es una buena imperial porter, con gustos a regaliz y café, y con cierto dulzor.

Absolutely wonderful. The odor of roast coffee is a part. Smells great, tastes a lot and the aftertaste lingers long. Yes I have no more than to say that this is a wonderful beer. Why do not I give it a 20 rating is because I think it could probably be better. Dryness in the beer. Understand why the beer is called Idjit ½ (½ idiot in English) It is half a fool if you do not drink it.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours dark brown with a small off white head. Aroma has mostly roasted malt but also some nuts and sesame seeds, burned sugar, some soy/salty notes. Taste is dominated by roasted malt, then some liquorice, cold coffee and some salty notes here as well. Medium bodied with low carbonation. Dry mouth feel and a long, dry bitter after taste. Alcohol is not prominent.

Mörkt brun med ett lätt smutsvitt skum. Doften är nästan bara kaffebönor. Toner av nötter. I smaken hittas betydligt mer. Kaffen finns kvar, valnötter, rostade hasselnötter, choklad. Till slut en ganska markerad beska. Ju längre man kommer så tas beskan över av en gräddig munkänsla.

Sample @ SBWF 12. Dark brown colour with a small beige head. Chocolate malt aroma. Flavour is malty, chocolate with some fruit.

In short: An unfocused dark ale of some kind. Just ok.
How: Bottle 500ml (I think it is 500ml), consumed one month after purchase, but if you add the long boat ride to get to north-america it was only moderately fresh
The look: Very dark burgundy-brown body topped by a beige ring of foam
In long: Nose is roasted, a bit boozy, some kind of alcoholised dessert, notes of black Sambuca. Taste is strange, very grainy with a sensation of crushed brownies, red liquorice candy, anise, roast, watery caramel. More hoppy than the average porter but the fruity hops feels a bit awkward, clashing with the rest of the beer. Minimal carbonation and the body feels a bit like thick juice. And also the anise-like spiciness just didn’t work here. Felt like an amateurish beer with a bunch of stuff thrown in without much planning hoping. Not sure why they call it a ½ Idjit, and that name confuses me, I don’t understand the four third of what fractions are.
