3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma: complex, funky malts. Tones of coffee, liquorice, fortified wine, sweet pears, tulips, sugar, red currant sourishness, nougat.
Flavour: sourish bitterness followed by elegant sweetness. Heavily malty and cocoa-like. The sourish bitterness is longlasting and very satifying. This is what a porter should taste like – easily distinguishable from a stout. The hops are there, and though they are perhaps fresher and more citrusy than what is usual for a scandinavian porter, they sit nicely in the bakground and let the malt dominate. One of the best malt profiles I’ve come across so far. Liquorice? Sure, but not as much as cocoa, coffee and roasted bitterness.
Appearance: very dark brown, towards black body. Warm beige-coloured foam formed by bubbles rather than froth, also a thin film remains on the surface. It looks like a great many good american impies, albeit paler.
Palate: thin but somehow grainy, acidic. Yet... fluffy. Very interesting. Moderate/low carbonation.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Black pour. Nice aroma of soft creamy coffee, mocha and licorice. Taste of salty licorice, creamy coffee and mild roast. Nice beer, although I saw the same nasty white chunks as benzai.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle @ home. Almost opaque dark brown color, medium sized beige head. Aroma is malts, dark malts, a hint of coffee, dark cocoa in the background. Taste malts, toasted malts, a hint of hazelnuts, again some cocoa, softly bitter. Decent body and carbonation. Also: when pouring in the second part of the bottle huge white chunks of yeast residu -I guess, but it looked like some kind of mold or fungus- came with it which looked absolutely disgusting.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bland dark pour w/ nearly no head or lacing. The aroma screams booze w/ a side of liqourrice & dark chocolate. The taste is quite unique for a porter. The alcohol dominates the flavor which is a bit odd at only 7%. Possibly worth a try for the porter lovers but not the greatesr in my book!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle 33cl. (bbd 02-2016). Poured into a shaker. Clear deep ruby brown, good two finger frothy beige to tan head, good retention and lacing; strong coffee aroma, roasted malts, cocoa, light licorice; taste is medium sweet and bitter, roasted malts, coffee, milk chocolate, with average to long duration; roasty sweetbitter finish, bit smoky, light spicy notes, hint of alcohol; medium body, oily texture, smooth mouthfeel, average carbonation; a well-balanced and smooth porter, good quality. Contains lumpy residue which is a pity because there is less beer to enjoy, wish I’d bought a couple more since this one seems to be retired.
