Pours deep amber into a Sam glass. Off-white soapy head with good retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Stale caramel and resin aromas. Soft with sour caramel upfront turning to mild bitter resin in the medium length finish. I believe this one has seen better days.

11/2/12. Bottle from Grassroots labeled as "hiphiphooray." Hazy orange pour with a nice off-white head with great lacing. The aroma is fruity with deep citrus, a musky touch, as well as biscuits. The flavor is much the same but somewhat lighter with a pronounced perfumey aspect.

Stockholm Beer & Whiskey 2012: Stor kryddig doft. Lenare smak men med en liten bismak av stekpanna. Torr frisk eftersmak med ton av grape.

Bottle. Rich amber beer with a cream head. Tropical fruit aroma with some earth. Tropical fruit flavor. Medium bodied. Tropical fruit lingers with backing malt and some earthy/dustiness.

JCB (3999) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - AUG 17, 2012
Bottle from Sam’s, Durham. Good one to score from the ongoing deep discount shelf sale. Kind of a cloudy apple juice looking poor, big bubbles, very crisp carbonation. Nose was an interesting combination of slightly faded malts and big citrus/sour apple. Prickly mouthfeel underscored the overall pertness of the beer, and the taste was - despite hints of old tea and stale biscuits - enjoyable and refreshing.

Bottle: pours cloudy amber, off white wispy head. Nose is bready malts, yeast, tropical fruits, fresh hops. On the palate, green wet hops, yeast, bread and caramel malts. Medium to lighter bodied. Nice balance and drinkability for the style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very good APA except for a little oxidation. Poured at a good temperature with a large, foamy, cream-colored head that slowly settles and some lace. Color is a clear orange amber with a couple of bubble trails. Aroma is hop, malt, yeast, wet cardboard. Flavor is similar to nose, hop is kind of subdued, but fitting for style and there’s a little pine and citrus plus sweet is also mild, bittler dominates, but not overly so, wet cardboard is just there, and carbonic tang is just right. Body n carbonation are perfect. Finish is like flavor, on the long side, and would be so much better, but for the oxidation.

Citrus and biscuit aromas. Citrus and biscuit flavors. Overall a decent pale ale (hiphiphooray!)

ROGUE (2086) - Newark, Delaware, USA - MAR 6, 2012
500ml bottle (Hiphiphooray). Poured a clouded, amber with orange and brown highlights and a slightly off-white head with decent lacing. Smell is very underplayed, with piney hops, citrus and some light malt. Taste follows aroma with a mild hoppiness, citrus orange, and mild sugar cookie sweet malt. Balanced and well rounded flavor. Medium carbonation, with a light dry finish.

3-4 ounce sample from a bottle at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Listed as Hip Hip Hooray. The aroma on this is soapy with some light oxidation. Light piney flavors and some sweaty sock notes are also present. Not too much else. Disappointing. Mildly hazy unfiltered orange body with a small off-yellow head present. Mild lacing. Starts with some mildly herbal hops and some scant oxidized cardboard flavors. Finishes a little sweet and with very subdued hop flavors, which are a little grassy and herbal. Pretty boring.
