Grovlam (3740), Copenhagen, Denmark Dec 11, 2007 Draught @ Den Tatoveret Enke. Nice brown creamy head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Pitch black color. Aroma of liquorish, chocolate, coffee and some underlying roasted malt, caramel and hint of floral hoppy bitterness. Medium plus bodied with an average carbonation and maybe a hint of dry texture. Flavor was moderated bitter with some counter sweetness. Finish is dominating bitter chocolate like that lingers. Quit nice. Not the correct brew to have with Chimay, Corsendonk and Westmalle cheeses, still a very nice beer!
Rune (2404), Tromsø, Norway Oct 3, 2008 Draught, 250ml. Served with dark chocolate and to the right drinking temperature downstairs at Den Tatoverede Enke, Copenhagen. Mid, off-white head covering a ruby-brown body. Generously roasted aroma of dark chocolate malts. Fine balanced flavour of milk chocolate and bitter cocoa notes. Ends up with developing bitterness from dry, fruity hops. A characterful, mellow porter. (Thanks to Guri from VG for the treat, 16.09.2008) Ungstrup (13384), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 23, 2008 Draft. A deep red beer with a collapsing brown head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of chocolate, but also hints of butter. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of chocolate and cocoa, but also with a light note of butter, leading to a very bitter and dry cocoa finish. fonefan (8711), VestJylland, Denmark Mar 6, 2008 Draught @ Den Tatoverede Enke, 1123 Copenhagen, Denmark. Transparent brown colour with off-white head. The appearance of a wannabe porter. Salty, licoricy aroma with dried fruits and a faint touch of Belgian yeast. Pretty light bodied at this abv-level, yet malty with a hoppy touch. Dough is present, as is a tad sourness. Salty all the way, until more salt sets in. A weird beer. Furseth (1269), Kungälv, Sweden Jan 28, 2008 Draught at the brewery. Clear deep red colour, with a nice head. Aroma is coffee, dark choclate, with a citric nose. Flavor has salt lakris, malty, some fruitynes is there too.Medium body, and a medium smouth fruity finish.
