3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Ingevara (645) - SWEDEN - SEP 17, 2010
Brown with almost no head at all. Fresh smell, a very hoppy flavor emphasized by a well balanced sweetness/bitterness. Very curt altogether, best on its own; too much for most foods.

Bottle. 9 days past ‘best before’. Pours a hazy amber/brown with a big beige/brown head. Okay lacing. Overly sweet aroma with a tart/acidic note; like sour winegum. Okay as such, but a bit too much in the long run. Some hop notes appear as it warms. ‘Flavour is hops; a bit sweet andwith the same tartness/acidity as the aroma, but not as outspoken. Notes of bread as well. Tart and dry finish. Lingering hoppy notes, but they drown a bit in the sweet/sour thing. Bitter notes as it warms, A bit too much carbonation. Overall too tart and not nearly hoppy enough. 10-03-10.

500cL bottle, courtesy of Joet. Thanks, Joe! Pours a deep, reasonably clear brass-amber color; light tan head with decent retention and solid lacing; medium-sized bubbles; attractive pour. Slight amount of alcoholic warmth in the aroma; complex hop bitterness (seemingly predominantly earthy, but it’s slightly clouded by the heavy maltiness and crystal malt character) with a fair amount of brown sugar, toffee, and hints of caramel present; on the malty side, this approaches like a quiet barleywine or American strong ale; pleasant, but not IPA-like. Relaxed carbonation and medium-to-full bodied: creamy texture in the mouth, solid amounts of caramel, dense biscuity maltiness and earthy notes, along with a pronounced, pleasantly layered core bitterness; reasonably balanced, with pleasant amounts of alcohol poking through, very lightly warming; not anything close to a standard IPA rendition, but enjoyable. A touch of oxidation, possibly. Slightly messy presentation overall. Medium finish of toffee, light caramel, and hints of oxidation: dried caramel and a light cardboard note.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Ygberg (139) - SWEDEN - NOV 28, 2009
Aroma of flowers and citrus. Appearance is amber with white head. Taste of citrus and fruits. The quite high ABV gives a bit of sweeter taste than the usual IPA and nice flavors are shoving. Overall a very good IPA

A nose of pineapples, pinewood, butter and lemon. Taste is of pinewood, grape, butter, passion fruit and basil. Finish is bitter, a bit soapy and contains a pinch of alcohol. I actually enjoyed this one! good balance, a nice acidity and not too bitter. Very nice!
