Draught at Bishops Arms, V:a Hamngatan, Gothenburg, Sweden. Somewhat hazy amber. Creamy off-white head. A lot of grassy and flowery hops in the aroma. Soft and smooth mouthfeel. Fine, sweet maltiness with grassy, bitter hoppiness. Very pleasant.

Draught at Bishops Arms, V:a Hamngatan, gothenburg. Amber with a firm head. Really hoppy in both aroma and flavour. Citric fruitiness; grapefruit orange and pine. Oh yes, it’s an IPA! Extremely hoppy, but also balanced in a nice way.

Whole Foods, P st, DC 500ml ($5): Pours a bronze colour with a slightly off-white head. Aroma is caramel malt, with some earthy hops and some citrus hops. Taste is slightly bitter. Plenty of malty sweetness. Not an American IPA at all, which is a refreshing change. Leaves some hoppy aftertaste. Good body. This might be a bit past its prime, but the hop character is still very much intact.

Hazy deep amber and copper coloured body with a thinnish, half a centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of fresh bitter, resiny hops, some metal, caramel and a good deep malty note. Medium-bodied; Earthy, pungent malt bite with a good dose of fresh hops up front that fade to spicy sweetness at the back end. Aftertaste shows more earth and alcohol than anything else, with a touch of sweetness and the grassy, resiny hops at the very end. Overall, a nice, rather earthy and less Americanised IPA, but still good to try. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 18-November-2011 for US$7.99 sampled at home in Washington on 10-April-2012.

Pours clear deep gold with a tall, sticky off-white head. Spicy, floral, citrus hop aroma. Very pleasant. The flavor is lightly bitter with an overpowering sweetness. A bit thin. Too sweet for an IPA.

Bottle. Poured hazy copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sour citrus and sweet malt aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy complex bittersweet flavor with a moderate to heavy bittersweet finish of medium to long duration. This beer exceeded my expectations.

3-4 ounce sample from a bottle at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Medicinal, metallic light hop aroma. Stale hops present. Not much else happening in the nose. A bit disappointing. Mildly hazy honey-colored body with a small off-white head present. Starts with some light citrus orange flavors before this becomes sweet, sugar, and mostly cloying. Minute bitterness late. Way too sweet and sugary. Not really hoppy. This is an IPA? A joke.

Bottle from Healthy Spirits. Purs copper with a thick beige head and a citrus aroma. There is a hearty caramel malt flavor with lots of citrus and a dry bitter finish.

Bottle. Pours light caramel brown with off white head. Nose/taste of citrus, sweet malt, caramel and pine sap. Nose is fantastic and crisp. Taste is very short with almost no finish - just bitter and sweet caramel. Pleasant, just not enough there.
