Bottle at home, shared with Mathieu87. APPEARANCE: pitch black beer, small stable beige head. NOSE: hoppy, faint chocolate, some coffee. TASTE: coffee, bitter, hoppy, some chocolate. Very nice Black IPA! Even though I’m not a fan of this type of beer!

Bottle from Systembolaget. Very malty smell with chocolate and coffee, some hops in the background, pine and citrus I think. The malt is dominant in the taste as well, fairly bitter finnish mostly coffee bitter but also some from the hops. A malt dominant BIPA, like a hoppy stout. I prefer my BIPAs when they give more room to the hops, at least 50/50 but preferably that the hops is dominant and the dark malts are there to give it an extra dimension. This one isn’t doing that, but still a nice beer and definitely drinkable.

33cl bottle. Pitch black, small head. Lots of roasted malts and some subtle stable/hay tone in aroma. Sweet, yet beautifully balanced against distinct hops in flavor. Small body but long nice bittersweet after taste. Nicely done! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black color with small sized head. The hop aroma is fresh and very nice; it has a sweaty and resiny character; very light manure too; roasted malts are in the background. The mouthfeel is very smooth; it has an excellent dry coffee flavor, and the hop brings a pleasant fruity and resiny touch.
Very fresh and good beer.

Linnet (1384) - Karlstad, SWEDEN - OCT 4, 2013
Bottle from Systembolaget. Ar: hops upfront, citrusy, resinous, piney, tropical fruits, fruitcandy, then Come, roastiness, licorice, ash, and light coffee, ABV well hidden. Ap: black colour, medium beige head, lacing. T: big bite, roasty, noticably sour, salty, light sweetness, rather heavy roastiness for the style, but hops are making an assertive prescence as well. P: medium body, average carbonation, bitter and roasty finish. T: Enjoyable.

hackobock (2387) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 1, 2013
Bottle from Systembolaget, best before 2014-05-13. Pours very dark red/brown, almost black with a one inch dense tan head. Aroma is hops up front with citrus, resin and pine then some roasted notes with coffee, soy and licorice comes through. Taste is bitter roasted malt with soy and licorice at first, then some green hop bitterness and finally a fairly dry bitter, almost astringent finish.

TheJestersBeer (2291) - SWEDEN - SEP 29, 2013
330ml bottle. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, with a beige head. Hoppy, resiny aroma, chocolate, caramel, roasted barley, mint leaves, eucalyptus, spruce, coffee beans. Dry, medium to full bodied, mid to high bitterness, creamy CO2. Hoppy, fruity, roasted taste, faint smoke, mint, herbs, spruce, resin, chocolate. Powerful but not over the top, well balanced, very drinkable and moreish. (2013-09-28)
