4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
50cl bottle, best by July 2013: Pours a mostly opaque black with a spotty-lacing beige head. Has a sweet toasty dark caramel malty nose with lots of dark chocolate and roasty coffee. Starts with good fullness and rich chewy dark malty sweetness swimming in dark chocolate with good roasted malty balance before a slightly drier bittersweet finish. True to style, complex and enjoyable.

I stort set svart öl med beige livligt skum. Doft framförallt av rostad malt. Även trä och lite choklad. Samma i smaken tillsammans med choklad och lite lakrits. En nötig beska och en gräddig munkänsla.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(500ml bottle best by Jul 2013) jet black pour, sparse tan bubbles. Nose of s’mores, toasty marshmallow, rich milk chocolate, honey, complex, smells delicious, a bit of smoky bacon too. Taste is smoky, raisins, lightly tart, watery chocolate, toasty marshmallow, body is thinner than I would like, but a good Impy stout nonetheless.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. Opaque black liquid with medium, firm, velvety tan head. Aroma has notes of fresh coffee, wood smoke, tobacco, licorice, biscuit, ash, knäckebröd, earth, pumpernickel and grain. Nice. Taste is light sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of coffee (espresso), dark fruit, raw sugar and some ash. Medium bodied with a bit high carbonation. Could have been thicker with a bit lower carbonation. Otherwise, nice stuff. Maybe a bit sharp.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Solid beer. Hard to explain why, but this tasted more like an imperial porter or Baltic porter than an imperial stout, but I’ll move on. Had some complex flavors of black licorice, chocolate, vanilla, creamed espresso and raisins. Boldly roasted, but it’s rounded and not harsh. Deep brown color; patchy and thin head. Thick, syrupy and smooth texture. Pleasant beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Interesting brew. Poured at a good temperature with a small, tan - with brown highlights, foamy head that soon settled down and no lace. Color is an opaque black brown. Aroma is massive cocoa, with malt, and roast. Flavor’s like nose plus include some molasses, toffee, and in the finish some coffee. Sweet is up front with some bitter to tone it down along with some carbonic tang. Body is soft and full, but has a few slight high bitter points. Finish is like flavor, slowly tapers, and has a slight alcohol warmth.
