3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dugges idjit vs perfect idjit. 330cl bottle... Both pour relatively
deeper dark cola brown with less dark edges to coincide with a thin
wisp of light beige head that is more apparent in the standard mire so
than in the oak aged... Aroma in regular is a bit more nutty roast
with a charred chocolate profile. A touch of dark fruit present in the
backend. Barrel version is more tame with wood and bourbon notes and
definitely doesn’t have the roast and characteristics exhibited by the
standard version... Flavors of the first are soy with char and roast,
semi-sweet in nature with a light roasty finish. Body and finish are
nice with a nice flavor profile overall. The oak barrel version has a
similar sweetness level with notes of fudge that coincide with the oak
and bourbon or whatever barrel that was used. Nice balance although
the barrel takes a slight precedence.

Pours a deep bubbly cola into a tulip. Mocha head recedes to hug rim. Sweet chocolate and espresso aromas. Thick with deep dark espresso upfront turning to milk chocolate in the middle before a lasting hot mocha finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: NOV 25, 2013 Bottle @ Rene’s house, courtesy of a very generous Swedish beer trader. Dark brown appearance with a dark brown head that looked very carbonated. Dark chocolate, very rich anise, vanilla, char, a bit smoky aroma. Very herbal/earthy, richly chocolate, espresso, syrupy, anise, char, somewhat fruity flavor. This type of Imperial Stout really isn’t up my alley. It’s thick, strong, and somewhat boozy. Kind of hard for me to drink. (3.2) Update: 0.5L tasted at Armin’s place and much superior and cleaner than my previous bottle in Denmark. (3.7)

Ganska svag doft. Trevlig mörk smak med tydliga fruktiga toner. Lätt brända toner. Lite småkladdig.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
16.9 oz bottle. Pitch black color, minimal to virtually none brown head, yet a tiny bit of lace. Very good super-roasty bitter taste. Some sweetness, too. Nice bitter roasty coffee aroma, little dark chocolate. Some smoke. Really big, chewy body. Very light carbonation. Good oatmeal factor here. Really tasty imperial stout.
