Sample @ Porterfestivalen in Gothenburg on November 19. Pours brownish black with a small chocolate brown head. Smell is very complex and sweet with roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla and some alcohol. Taste is sweet and fullbodied with chocolate, vanilla, raisins, port wine and a warming alcohol sensation. Finish is slightly sweet with chocolate and coffee and lasts for quite some time.

500mL bottle, split with Matts_Property, pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma of wood, darkly roasted malts and some cappuccino. The roasted / wood qualities are most pronounced on the nose. Flavour follows and is massively roasted with roasted malt, lots of wood and a bit of burnt espresso. Palate is rich and rough. Delicious.

500ml bottle, best by July 2013. Pours a dark, translucent mahogany color with a small, bubbly, frothy head of khaki foam. The center of the head quickly fades to a swirly film, as the bubbles push out to the edge and stay there. Thin, feathery snakes and broken chiffon sheets of lace mark the glass nicely. Though there is predictably a good amount of sweetness to the nose, there is also a decent roast offering, as notes of coffee, dark roasted cacao, and toasted biscuit all come through. Back to the sweetness, it comes in the form of licorice, melted dark chocolate, and mocha. Anise lends sharp spice. Flavors largely follow suit, sweet and chocolaty for the most part, loaded with black licorice and anise, The burnt sugars are definitely heavy, and they comprise some of the perceived roast. The coffee notes seem day-old and slightly stale. There’s a lingering, sharp, slightly acidic old coffee note that goes long in the aftertaste. The palate is shy of full bodied, but still rather dense and hefty. It’s sugary, laborious, and cloying, and the mouth remains sticky well after the swallow. Eh....another imperial stout that I can’t really get down with these days.

(Bottle, 0.25 l - BBE jun 2013, from Systembolaget, 20111105) The beeer poured black. Its head was small and light brown. Aroma had roasted malts, cocolate, coffee and liquorice. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, hops, chocolate, liquorice, saltiness and bitterness. Aftertaste had roasted malts, liquorice and bitterness. Very nice, complex and still balanced imperial stout. I liked.

Bottle from trade with Tkrjukoff, tried at ‘Zieke Zuiden Tasting II’. Pitch black, opaque color, small brown head. Smell coffee, roasty, smoke and burned malts. Taste coffee, roasty, bitter and actually a lot more: complex taste. Very nice carbonation, medium to full body.

Smells like a typical stout w/ emphasis on coffee. Dark in appearance as expected. Taste and palate were really rough with a dull cough syrup essence that becomes stronger throughout. Not a favorite.
