3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
500. Pours black with no head or lace after a few minutes of hanging out. Big soy nose, inky, dark, roasty, very much a formidable beast to contend with. Slick, thick, heavy body. Soy, ink, roast, and tar on the mid palate. Dense roasty salty finish. Not that craziest or most innovative impy to come along, but a big beasty that’s fun to drink.

4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a translucent dark brown with minimal head. Appearance is a little meh, but fortunately you dont taste beers with your eyes. Aroma is amazing rich coffee and bakers chocolate with sweet toasty caramel. Taste is medium sweet and light bittering with a bold coffee bean flavor. Really tasty stuff.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aroma alone this brew is amazing. Tons if coffee in this beer or coffee flavors if no coffee added, can’t read Swedish. Amazing stout, it’s like if your born around the Baltic sea you can make an amazing stout.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark murky chocolate brown out of the bottle and setlles in almost black with a small tan head that leaves some bubbly residue around the edges.
Aroma is sweet but roasty. It’s got chocolate, vanilla and especially coconut on the sweet side which is balanced with lightly roasted chocolate malts.
Taste mirrors the aroma and is sweeter than I was expecting with that same coconut character coming out up front. The roasted malts form the backbone but it’s fairly subtle. The finish is dry and almost chalky with bakers chocolate and charred malts.
The mouthfeel is creamy and smooth but probably a little lighter in feel than a world class impy stout. Kinda watery for the style.
This is a solid impy stout but lacks the depth and heft to be great. Still, it’s tasty.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
500mL from Whole Foods Bowery Place in NYC. The pour is a deep mahogany, cloudy, looking black in the glass. A dense, but small red-tinted creme head emerges with tight density like a nitro pour. Requires quite a bit of encouragement for the head to form. Not too much retention or lacing. Nose is hoppy with soft cinnamon, cocoa, vanilla cream, coffee- cappuccino. Also gains some fruitiness like tangerine and fresh strawberry. Taste- more of a porter in body with some tangy acidity. Nothing too standout for me like the 1/2 Idjit’s Bailey’s Irish Cream profile. Not really more intense than the 1/2 Idjit in body either being very drinkable, hoppy, richer, but not sweet or dense. Easy to put down like a hoppy porter with small lemon. Pretty decent but nothing overwhelming.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
big thanks to clyx for this 25cl bottle. pours a dark brown color and has a huge tan head that holds up for quite some time leaving bits of lacing as it falls. smell is like swissmiss chocolate milk with alcohol and malt roast but not overly sweet. blasting with chocolate and mild notes of dark fruit. taste is more singular than the smell. Roasty bitter with a bit of stale coffee. touch of chocolate compared to the smell. light notes of acidity. ends with a light soy sauce. mouthfeel is medium body with moderate to high carbonation. not much alcohol to taste or feel, but it’s there. overall an enjoyable offering.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Served from a bottle at the Stone 15th Anniversary Celebration. The appearance is a brown/black hue. The flavors and aromas are tobacco and smoked malts. Not overly smoky. Some nice dark fruits. The mouth is dry and medium to full bodied. Pretty tasty brew.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thanks to Alex for this bottle... Dark brown beer, light tan head... Really nice and strong nose, smells barrel aged, wish I knew if it was, deep chocolate with scotch...the taste is a bit too charred with scotch, but has a wonderful finish... sum is greater than its parts

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours pitch black, with an almost dark brown head.
Very rich, complex aromas. Heavy toast, cocoa powder, coconut, coffee beans, dark chocolate, licorice, tar, asphalt, ripe plums, hops, raisins, tobacco.
Sweet, full bodied, thick, medium bitterness, balanced CO2.
VERY rich taste, nice complexity. Heavily toasted malts, dark chocolate, espresso coffee, coconut, candied sugar, licorice, hops, plums, raisins, treacle, tar, earth.
This is as subtle as a punch in the face, but a very nice punch that is, indeed! An excellent piece of brewing now, will probably develop fabolously with time. Bonus points for the small bottle size. (2011-07-14)

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black color; beige head, creamy. The aroma shows at first burnt malts, burnt bread; later the aroma becomes more interesting, more refined, with some alcohol too. Good body structure, and smooth mouthfeel; good mix of dark chocolate and roasted malts, strong tar impression, very light vanilla and liquorice; correct bitterness; the final doesn’t exceed in the roastiness, while the alcohol is maybe too much evident. A very good one.
