COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

On tap at BeerTemple. Black brown pour, tenacious tan foam. Aroma is quite smoky, something a bit soy sauce like, definitely umami. Taste is roasty, umami, almost meaty, a touch smoky. Palate is medium bodied, pretty dry, good carbonation. Nice original Is.

Brownish-black pour with a medium khaki head that diminishes steadily to a film. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Medium to full body with a roasty character and flavors of espresso, malt and dark chocolate. The finish is sweet with a charred malt and mocha aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Tap @ Beer Temple. Very dark color, but not quite black & opaque. Beige head. Aroma’s: hard roasted malts, ground coffee, some mocha, also a bit of fruit retronasal. Flavor is moderate sweet, hard roasted malts, hints of fruity sourness. Medium bodied (expected fuller). Finishes burnt, light ashy, with a light bitterness.

330ml bottle picked up at Vinmonopolet Vika. Clear, cola coloured body, sediments to the last pour. Low, patchy surface, not much lace. Roasted malts and herbal hops on the nose. Bittersweet liquorice and dark malty flavours leading to a roasted ending. Oily palate. Near full bodied. Lovely, smooth sipper (hotel room, Oslo 13.02.2014)

7/II/14 - 33cl bottle from a trade @ home - BB: VI/2013 (2014-181) Thanks to Nisse666 for the trade!

Black beer, big bubbled beige to brown irregular head, pretty stable, non adhesive. Aroma: quite some alcohol, bit peaty I’d swear, coffee, dark chocolate, bit dusty, caramel. MF: soft carbon, full body. Taste: pretty sweet, sugary, mocha, chocolate, caramel, some dried fruits, little sourish. Aftertaste: lots of dark chocolate, vanilla, suble notes of coffee, bitter hops, burnt toast. In the end I got some weird gelatine like chunks from the last part of the bottle, that melt away in my mouth. Dafuq is this? It’s yucky and gross, but I’m willing to oversee it, since the expiration date has been exceeded.

Tap. Pours deep brown with a medium sized tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla, chocoklate. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry with bitter notes. Full bodied, oily text and soft CO2. A delicious impy.

Refrigerated 0.5 L brown bottle poured into a snifter. Pours black with dark brown highlights and small light brown head. Aroma is rich roast, thick/medium body, low carbonation, and some big bubble lacing. Taste is roasty, coffee, some espresso, ash (more as it warms), and slightly dry bitter hop finish. Not one of the better imperial stouts I have had.

Medium to good dark beige head over black beer with foxy-brown reflections. Outspoken coffee/mocha nose, not much else, except evidently roasted malts. Bitter & sweet are suggested. More dry coffee in the mouth, first dry, later more sweetness, going over into the aftertaste with some burning in the mouthfeel, and a vague metallic tang. Charcoal, roast. Medium to well-bodied; obviously quite slick, alcoholwarming. There’s better around in Scandinavia, certainly in this style.

Black in the glass, a decent sized head that holds ok. Nice roasted malts, some coffee and chocolate. A aftertaste that is very nice and holds for a long time.
