Dark red, small beige head. Big bold sherbetty hoppy aroma. Quite sharp carbonation, lively. Sticky and numbing hoppy taste, quite overpowering at times. Actually, this has made my brain go numb as well as my mouth. Doesn’t taste 9%, but certainly noticeable as a powerful brew.

500 mL bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA on 4/29/11. Pours a clear copper with a medium frothy tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of big citrus and floral hops with a malty finish. The taste is citrus and resiny hops with some candied citrus and toffee. Medium-full bodied. A bit on the sweet side, but quite good.

500mL. Pours a clear tea red with a large, dense, yellow head. Small retention and no lace. Nose is air freshener, mild chemical, small celery, and semi Brett funkiness. Taste is sticky and bitter with cocoa but also strawberry and celery. Huge celery gives way to semisweet chocolate. Sticky palate. Not a fan- all over the place. 6/3/6/3/12=3.0

Benzai (8145) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - AUG 31, 2011
Bottle from trade with Tkrjukoff. Shared with DutchDrebus @ home. Hazy dark orange / light red / amber colored beer. Decent off-white head. Smell sweet, lightly flowery-hoppy, but also a little like child’s ’finger-paint’. Can’t explain it completely. Taste is a little disappointing. Way too sweet. Low carbo, low to medium body.

500 ml bottle from Capone’s. Pours hazy deep deep coppery orange toward ruby with 1-finger off-white clingy uniform head and great spare lace. This one looks great, a true 5. Nose is big female sweaty feety assy funky hops, caramel malt, mango, citrus. Tastes rich, very caramelly, with resiny hops, fruit, and a smooth finish with well hidden alcohol. Medium palate heft and complexity, and some late heat emerges, along with a slight hop domination over the malt.

(Draught at The Rover, Göteborg) Clear dark copper color, small tan head. Nice sweet and fruity, hoppy floral and citrus with pine scent. Roasted, sweet, bitter and hoppy taste. Citrus, pine and malty end. Thick creamy mouthfeel. Medium high bitterness. Really nice.

500ml bottle best before nov 11. It pours a deep, clear reddish-bronw with a frothy off-white head. The smell has some torpical, citrus, pine, malt, and caramel. The flavor is unique. It has some bananas, caramel, and fruity hops. There is a lingering hop bitterness in the finish, but not overpowering or even medium. It is a very yeasty DIPA. The mouthfeel is a bit watery. 500mL bottle. Poured garnety-brown with a looser-bubbled beige head. The aroma picked up pineapple, earth, and other citrusy hoppage over maple and caramel sweetness (more maple-focused).. it seemed a bit aged, but it’s dated November 2011. The flavor found maple again at the core, joined by darker bread.. pine resin and citrus bitterness around.. oxidation was apparent on the back and finish.. not all that interesting. Medium-bodied with low carbonation on the palate.. some sourness scattered through it.. again there seemed to be some oxidation.. not a great flow. This was disappointing.
