COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Duits & Lauret Stout is a very complex, dark and full-bodied beer. A beer to really take your time for in order to enjoy and experience its rich and complex flavour. An aroma of coffee and dark chocolate can easily be discerned. Roasted accents and a slight bitterness are typical of this beer. The stout combines wonderfully well with oysters or spicy dishes, and certainly with desserts in which chocolate or dried fruits have been used as ingredients.

Good but compared with other stouts a little flat and boring. There’s no intense flavour and the aftertaste goes away in a flash. Mediocre/good.

On draught in Cefe Derat, Utrecht. Fairly chocolatey standard stout, but an overly burnt taste, although not exactly up to Rauchbier standards, downgrades the experience for me. Got the impression the malt was too roasted for my palate.

Bottle at the Beer, Bocce and Boozer Tasting, London. Cheers Bruce for bringing this one along! Pours black-brown with a lovely, creamy beige head. Cocoa, roast, light lacto sweetness and dark bread in the nose. Light to medium sweet flavor with subtle roast, burnt bread, cocoa and some ash. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Semi-sweet finish with charcoal, some cocoa and burnt earth bitterness. Very decent beer.

Bottle, thanks to Leighton at his Beer, Bocce and Boozer tasting. It pours almost black, with a thin beige head. The nose is salted liquorice, chocolate, caramel and seawater. The taste is roasted malt, milk chocolate hint of smoke, caramel, nut and salted liquorice, with a dry-roasted finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not bad.

Bottle @ Beer, Bocce and Boozer tasting. Deep brown color with a modest, creamy tan head. The aroma’s of dark grape, balsamic vinegar, charred wood. The taste is toasty, vinous. Quite sweet. Some bitter chocolate. The mouthfeel’s a bit thin. Soft carbonation. Overall, quite pleasant.

Malty, roasted flavor with a mellow chocolate aftertaste. Medium to weak body with a smooth finish and a lingering sweetness.

UPDATED: NOV 6, 2013 Full-bodied dark beer with creamy brown head. Well-balanced and tasty, though average stout. Aroma of roasted malts and some dark chocolate. The malts and chocolate come back in the taste along with some coffee.

Very good stout from a beautiful 75cl bottle. Chocolate, berries, creamy palate with a fresh aftertaste.

Very good brown-beige head over nearly black beer. Faint chocolate, lightly roasted, cypress, dark green leaves (and ditto malts). Sweet, slightly roasted, active carbon, sweetness building up in the finish, with upcoming woodiness and nutty flavours. Very slick, medium to well-bodied, and generally quite well-balanced. Rather excellent, very well-balanced stout, one to cherish again.
