Commissioned by a Dutch beer company exploiting a mobile little brewery, this stout shows a beige head and all-black colour, a smokey and toasted aroma of charcoal, peat, smoked meat, black coffee and gin, and an ashy, dry taste with a smoky and chocolatey hint, a bit of warming alcohol in the finish and a certain ’syrupyness’. Good winter warmer, but not very accessible and only suitable for true stout lovers.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a very dark brown to black with a medium beige head and an aroma of caramel, moccha, cacao, roasted malts and some dried fruits. The taste is mildly sweet with some bitterness, roastiness and some slight alcohol. Finish is mediumlong, some hoppy bitterness, some roastiness. Nice stout!

Bottled. Black colour, small brown head. Aroma is toffee, liquorice, coffee and some mild alcohol. Flavour is very similar in a very smooth and pleasant way. Bold and big as for the flavour and palate.

Tap at Arendsnest, Amsterdam. Dark black. Creamy head with lace forming. Interesting aroma: cola, treacle, tobacco, chocolate cake. Might even be some hops coming through. Big roasted, liquorice, molasses taste. This is a really nice stout with some great constituents.

Zwarte kleur met dikke beige schuimkraag, ruikt gebrand, chocolade, hoestdrank, kruidig. Smaakt super, beertje zoet, beetje zuur, beetje bitter.

Bottle. Very dark brown – almost black, average to large and mostly diminishing light brown head. Moderate to full, malty - some oat and sweetish aroma, roasted - light burnt malt and light licorice. Body is medium to full, malty - some oat sweetish flavor, roasted malt and light coffee and licorice, light hoppyness. Finish is average, malty - light oat and lightly sweetish - sweetish, lots of roasted - light burnt malt, light coffee and licorice, light - some hoppyness, faint alcohol. Really nice roasted stout. Not too much coffee. Could be drier.

33cl bottle @ home. Pours black with a medium brownish head. Aroma toast, dark fruits in the nose, rosted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, wafer flavor, nothing is very strong but very good balance. Alcohol is very well covered, but goes quickly into my head. Taste very slight sweetness, medium to heavy bitterness, slight salty notes. Full body, average carbonation, fine, moderated bitter finish. This is not an extreme burnt bitter stout, but very delicius dessert kind.
