Mooi bruine kleur, creme kleurige kraag die rap weg trekt, bijna geen geur behalve wat metaal. Smaak is mooi rond en romig. Mooie chocoladetoetsen, wat metaalsmaak. Klein beetje gebrand. Mooi romige smaak.

Bottle at Rootz at the Harbour, Scheveningen. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin broken white head. The aroma is sweet malt, red berry fruit, some yeast. The flavour is moderate sweet light bitter with a crisp rich malt, cherry fruit palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A real sweetie and I’m sweet enough already!

cereal, chocolate, brown, clear, minimal head, medium sweetness, light body, average carbonation, tastes a bit like so called "Tafelbier", nothing to special.

Dubbel with a very long and complicated history: originated as a local, stronger version of faro in the late 19th century (after the brewer had accidentally thrown too much candi sugar into his lambic) and gaining local fame, made by Vanderlinden as "Duivelsbier" till it closed down in 2001, then taken over by Boon and turned into a massive Scotch ale of 8% ABV and finally revised by Boon to the current 6% ABV dubbel version. Complex malt profile, dried fruits, bit toasty finish, very satisfying but I did like the previous 8% ABV version better.

Een lekker bier, volle, complexe smaak. Voor mij was het een absolute meevaller.

Amber brown with fizzy top. High carbonation. Medium body but little taste. Some red fruit and malt, raisin. Short finish. Too much alcohol.

Aroma: Rich, caramel, raisins, figs, light pepper, spicy, Appearance: Hazy brown with red hues. Large beige frothy head. Good retention. Flavour: Raisins, dark chocolate, fig. medium-high sweetness. low bitterness, balanced towards maltiness, sweetness, Palate: Medium body. Very high carbonation. Medium dry finish. Overall: Enjoyable beer, easy drinking. Deceptive on the alcohol! 330 ml bottle, poured. Thanks Andre! 18E. Belgian Dark Strong Ale

Bottle. Light hazy amber pour with thin off white head. Aroma is quite winey, welsh grape juice, frontenac malt, toasty notes, light nuttiness. Taste is sweet, brown sugar, grape like flavors, fruity, light sourness (infection?). Palate is med bodied, slightly watery finish with low carb. Drinkable, but quite meh.
