3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Aarleks (408) - Sydney, - AUG 16, 2008
Tap at UQ: This wasn’t half bad. And while I agree with the previous rater that it is missing the crisp finish of some German beers, I’m not sure it needed it or that it wanted it. Slightly cloudy gold with a thick fluffy head. Nutty malts certainyl prevail and in particular that lemony character the Hefe’s can have. Indeed, for a moment I thought it might have been one, despite the description on the tap handle. Much the same in the mouth with the citric notes making for a very pleasant palate. Developing some apropriate hop character here would would yield a very interesting challenger to the likes of the Scharers of old or the Knappsteins of the present. Good work.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 jonno (1457) - JAPAN - MAR 11, 2011
Tap. It’s funny that I can compare this, a fresh draft, to an import bottle of German beer later in the night and this tastes weak, macro and indistinguishable from most pale lagers. For shame Burleigh, for shame.

Bottled: Pours a bright gold with a medium white fleeting head. Malty grassy-hop nose. Light malty citrusy body, lightly carbonated with a good level of bitterness. Clean hoppy finish. Pretty good, wish it was on tap more often. Great match with prawns by the way.

330ml bottle. Pale and dull gold in colour with barely a head of bubbles that skim over the top of the beer before vanishing. Malty, earthy aroma with a fresh and clean feel in the mouth and mild bitterness level. Mild flavour that doesn’t really grab you.

330ml bottle. Pours a clear straw yellow beer with a loose dissipating white head. Lemony citrus notes on the the nose. Palate is tart and thickish with flavours of lemons and grainy sweet malts. Crisp refreshing dry bitter finish. Goes down easily. Substantially exceeded expectations.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 kenbeer (46) - , AUSTRALIA - OCT 13, 2008
I was very relieved when I first tried this beer to find that it wasn’t a bland macro style lager. Instead it is a lager with appropriate bready malt flavours and a lovely refreshing smack of bitterness. Went down an absolute treat with some fish and chips by the water. One of the best Aussie made German lagers that I have ever had.
