(Draught) Pours hazy golden. The aroma is of light sweet bready malt, grassy and floral hops with hints of cookies, straw and yeast. The flavour is smooth of bready malt with a grassy bitterness alongside a touch of straw and hay. Clean mouthfeel. Light crisp and a bit dry. Medium bodied. A very good pilsner.

Grovlam (4157) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JUL 2, 2008
Draught @ the brewpub. Average fizzy white head that mostly diminished. Somewhat cloudy golden color. Aroma of mild grass, floral, dusty hops, mild butterscotch, light grainy feel as well. Over the palate came smooth dusty flower. Medium bodied with an average carbonation and soft texture. Medium sweet and bitter flavor. Light dry and bitter finish.

Draught at Pivovarsky Dum. Pleasant grassy lager with a suggestion of wine vinegar. Quite dry. Herby - lemongrass. Lingering hop finish. OK.

UPDATED: MAY 31, 2008 Nice. Straight forward beer here but well made. Super fresh aromas of farmyard (Corn Flakes) and a hint of sweetness. Flavoursmake less impact than the aromas but the story is still the same. Drying finish with mild bitterness.

Robustic beer. Nice amber hazy appearance with a foamy lacing head. Aroma of yeast and some malt, floral hop. The flavour is robustic, not a complex taste of yeast and malt with a characteristic hop. Overall robustic one

(Rating #1580)

Back from a Czech Republic pub-crawl this is part of my express ratings for the “typical” Světlý 11°- (Czech light Pils), Světlý 12°+ (Czech Pils), Polotmavý (Czech Amber Lagers) and Tmavý (Czech Black Lagers). Non-typical beers will receive personalized descriptions after the express ratings.
-------- /> How: Tap at brewpub (Pivovarský Dum, Prague)
The look: Partly cloudy golden yellow body with a short-lived white head
To me a typical Czech Světlý 12° and above is: Well malted body with plenty of biscuits and cereals. Sweetness level is in the light-medium range with some honey flavours and a light caramel presence (3/4 honey, 1/4 caramel). Fruity flavour limited to a light citrus flavour. Medium carbonation. Finish is dry and moderately bitter with a light citric touch. After-taste of dry grassy/herbal hops with a light dry spiciness character.
This one: As above with a bit more citrus/orange flavours. Average.

Unfiltered haze and heaped suds almost like a weissbier. Big piney Saaz aroma once it’s got going. Dunked mealy biscuit and creamy vanilla cushioning the generous hop presence. Sweetly malty but coniferously bitter. At the time, a completely new taste for me... and a good one.

Draught, Dum/Prague. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (apricot), with a note of pineapple juice. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Another one of those sourish fruit-juicy sorts of svetly that I just can’t get into.
